There were no wood stoves in the stone age.

Well, I wouldn't burn anything in a wood stove anyway. It might catch on fire.

However, 'stone age' men burned their wood in or on something, and used it not only to cook, but to provide heat. I believe they made their stoves out of rocks, instead of iron, or brick, but they had stoves.

Yup. Stone, clay, and brick, but Ben Franklin’s steel fireplace was definitely a quantum leap in heating efficiency, though not designed for cooking.

We actually have a soapstone heating stove, as well as a cast iron one. Our water is heated in a steel stove, and our cookstove is Amish-built with steel.

Reduction of the human population to what they consider to be “sustainable” is their goal.

In other words, they would be LIKE GODS, deciding who lives, who dies. Of course, THEY are always on the KEEPER list. Always.

Memorize this little passage from Dicken's Christmas Carol. It's an exchange between the Gost of Christmas Present and old Scrooge.

Repeat it when encountering those who want to decrease the surplus population.

Well, I guess you could say we have one foot in the stone age and one foot in the iron age.

YES, the climate IS changing, but AGW is pure BS

AGW is more certain than GW. Adding CO2 to the atmosphere results in warming. What is pure BS is CAGW, there is no evidence of amplification of the slight warming from the extra CO2. As for GW, as said above, there is no statistically significant GW trend in the last 15 years. That implies that the small amount of AGW is exceeded by natural variations.

Actually, using downed tress and large branches in wood stoves is reducing CO2. If left to rot and/or be eaten by termites et al, the wood adds CO2 to the atmosphere anyway. If used in the wood stove, the same CO2 is produced, but you have used less utility-provided energy and thus reduced CO2 emissions there.

Of course, if this current cooling continues, we may be praying for more CO2 in the air.....

“We call it layering in MI.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Same thing I call it;>) You wanta see climate change? Come down here where we just had snow the day after Christmas and I can still see snow on the ground from my window. We actually EXPECT snow at least once every winter now even though we used to go year after year without a flake. We don’t expect a white Christmas though, the only one I had ever seen was Christmas eve of 1989, I don’t know whether you can call this a white Christmas but it’s close enough.

Back in the seventies we had deer hunters whining about not being able to sit on a stand in December without sweating! Now they are bundling up like Eskimos.

“...We actually have a soapstone heating stove...”

With a glass (treated of course) door or side window, airtight soapstone wood stoves emit more of a warmth than heat. I say more enjoyable than a fireplace where 90% of that heat goes up the chimney.

Ours is a Hearthstone Mansfield with a glass door.

> emit more of a warmth than heat

Well said! It’s a great stove. The warmth permeates the entire house, once the stone heats up. Doesn’t heat up as quickly as cast iron or steel, but I like the warmth better.

Funny how the television versions don’t quote that line. But they do make Scrooge to be a miser.
