Barukh Dayyan Ha'Emet.

RIP Rabbi. You did well.

He wasn't a rabbi (at least so far as I know).

Had Marfan's disease, I heard, which will eventually kill one.

Isn't that Lincoln had? He was supposedly dying of it when he was assassinated.

I’ve heard that before. If Wikipedia (YMMV, Insert Standard Disclaimer Here) has the right of it, they now thing A. Lincoln had something else.

In all due respect, prayers are for the living

2 Macc 12:42-45

(A)nd they turned to prayer, beseeching that the sin which had been committed might be wholly blotted out. And the noble Judas exhorted the people to keep themselves free from sin, for they had seen with their own eyes what had happened because of the sin of those who had fallen. He also took up a collection, man by man, to the amount of two thousand drachmas of silver, and sent it to Jerusalem to provide for a sin offering. In doing this he acted very well and honorably, taking account of the resurrection. For if he were not expecting that those who had fallen would rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. But if he was looking to the splendid reward that is laid up for those who fall asleep in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Therefore he made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin.

That is not in the King James version and I do not consider it Holy Scripture. You have your view and I have mine. We can agree to disagree.

There are others who will stand in the gap. Good men & women like: Mike Vanderbough, David Codrea, Suzanna Huff and Paxton Quigley.

There was no holy scripture in existence until 1611? Wow. What a religion. In existence for two thousand years but no authoritative holy scripture for the first sixteen hundred of those years.

IMHO, the books of Maccabees belong in the cannon more than does Esther, but I can say for a fact that there are aspects of the King James that are clear mistranslations of the Hebrew; but then, the JPS has them too.

It is not for you or anyone else to determine what does and does not belong in the Hebrew Bible. That decision was made by the Prophets of the 'Anshei HaKenesset HaGedolah.

I didn't. I offered my opinion, and nothing more.
