There is one more action item the Richardson administration is trying to accomplish - moving the state DNA center and database from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. It is opposed by just about everybody including the incoming governor, ABQ city officials, the state AG (a Democrat), legislators, prosecutors and the state's DNA Oversight Committee. It is supported by Richardson-appointed DPS Secretary John Denko. The opposition to moving it says that says that DNA samples could be mixed up with samples in the DPS crime lab making prosecution of criminal cases less certain. The move is scheduled to take place today, but ABQ officials say paper files are not going anywhere without an inventory which will not be completed by close of business tomorrow. If the computers are moved, the new governor says they will be moved back on Monday.

I love it when I hear New Mexico has done something right!
NM is my favorite place to vacation: as my 10-year-old read the sign entering the state:
“Land of Enhancement!”
(No wonder so many folks vacation there! lol)
