Sanitation Department's slow snow clean-up was a budget protest (NYC union thugs)
NY Post ^ | 12/30/10 | SALLY GOLDENBERG, LARRY CELONA and JOSH MARGOLIN

Posted on 12/30/2010 3:57:36 AM PST by jimbo123

These garbage men really stink.

Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts -- a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.

Details at the link on the specific orders that were given to the union drivers by their bosses. It’s criminal.

Union bosses should be held responsible for the death of the baby as well as any other health hardship to the people.

criminal charges should be filed...

Unions in the private sector (and even moreso in the Public Sector) or now functionally no more than organized-crime syndicates, extorting money from taxpayers, and funneling it to themselves and favored politicians.

There is NO WAY that it should be legal for these organizations to buy legislators that take taxpayer money and funnel it to their members, OR to funnel it to those who vote for their handouts. The exhorbitant pay, benefits, and their gold-plated retirement plans have driven most businesses off-shore, where the wages and benefits can allow competitive production. In the case of Government Unions, the extortion is running rampant, and cities, states, and nationally we are bankrupted by the sqeeze of tax-funded payouts.

RICO laws.

Convict all union members and bosses. Strip them of pensions and benefits, and jail time.

We need to start using RICO against unions and politicians.

Can charges be filed against the union of some sort.

First victims who may have needed emergency services that died or became disabled,

The city for literal breach of contract with intent to cause harm,

These were indeed criminal actions, premeditated criminal actions with intent to cause harm. Jail time is in order and not just for the union bosses, but for the idiots who followed the orders!!! Common sense & decency told them this was wrong.

"Blood is on the hands of the sanitation union bosses and the drivers"

Doesn't matter - it's their way of life; earning three times the wages of the average taxpayer that foots the bill and holding their host in contempt.

I've been watching the network morning shows this morning. They've been really heavy on the NYC blizzard news. This morning ABC and NBC have totally ignored the union story. CBS gave it a 20 second mention.

Go figger.

Take a page out of Reagan’s book. After the PATCO strike, he fired the lot of them.

There are plenty of people out there who would be happy to take a nice steady well-paying job as a garbage hauler in New York City.

This NYC story has national implication. I think it would behoove the House Pubbies to look into this with hearings and subpoeae.

In the meantime I think it would be a good idea for folks to plan to take care of themselves, family, friends, and neighbors. Have an action plan in place for events like this. The plan might not covery every contingency, but it would beat the heck out of waiting for some government agency to rescue you.

Fire every single last one of them, or if that isn't possible, reassign them to jobs that are furthest away from where they live and which involve the most tolls or transportation costs.

I have no doubt that there are plenty of people in New York City who would be happy to replace these losers.

Lot of finger pointing. Some are saying that the city did not want to call in the snow removal crews on Sunday night so they wouldn’t have to pay double time.

Others are blaming the union due to the plan to lay off 400 workers.

Best thing fore everyone that works with the union - disband the union and all the so called pensions that will solve all NYC problems the union guys will starve in the streets and will have to eat snow.

You can all band together to clear your own cars and the block too but then what? The next block is still deep in the snow.

NYC is unmanageable when you have dems in charge.

Last month the NY Thruway had stranded motorists for approx. 20 hours.

Evidently tax money is good for nothing when it comes to services, it’s only good for ‘programs’ for the so called ‘needy’.

The layoff was only 6% of the sanitation department. 6% is nothing. Unions goons are busted. At least some of the thugs feel guilty about the deaths and burned out homes that were a result of their temper tantrum. Definitely grounds for manslaughter charges for those union bosses who gave the slowdown orders.

Upstate NY...

A 64 year old woman went into the DMV to get her license renewed. She stood at the window for an entire 25 minutes. At first, 3 people were there to help her, but 2 left the room. The one that was left was doing some kind of paperwork.
Eventually, the man came over to her window and snapped "Can I help you?" She said yes, she had to renew her license. He took her through all the paperwork and picture taking. After that was done, he sat down at the computer to finish up, and he noticed her license had been revoked due to a medical issue. The woman explained to the man her license had been reinstated shortly after the incident, about a month earlier, but just got a renewal notice in the mail and thought she should take care of it.
Well, according to this busy man, the computers are 3 months behind. According to this busy man, government union cutbacks are to blame. There aren't enough people to get the work done anymore. He told her she'd have to wait another 3 months to renew.
The woman was pi$$ed. Not only will she have to wait another 3 months to renew her license - she noticed the important paperwork the man was doing after she waited an entire 25 minutes for him. The "important paperwork" the guy was doing was a crossword puzzle!

State wide, only 1% of the government union members have been laid off. In Elmira NY, the government union employees are going to hold a candle light vigil for these poor lost souls tonight. I kid you not.
