“Playing”?!

I can’t speak for Republicans, but I can tell you, Mr. Goolsbee, conservatives are NOT playing. This is NOT a game. Your time is done.

We have an Education Dept that has never educated a single child, an Energy Dept that prevents the expansion of energy resources, a Labor Dept that prevents employment, a Dept of Homeland Security that refuses to secure this country, and a Dept of Justice that won’t go after criminals but sues States that do. By all means; shut it down!

What’s with “cut back to 2008 levels”? What’s the matter with 2006 levels, or oh, 2005 levels, or better still, back to the 1995 levels? Just fire Federal employees until the same spending levels of the balanced budget under the Republican Congress is possible and hold them there. No inflation adjustment, not BS about increased revenue or anything else. If there is increased revenue above what’s spent, isn’t that what you use to pay down the debt?

Cutting government back to the point at which we were going to hell slowly isn’t worth a crap. Cut it back until we’re paying down the debt and make it illegal to spend more than 90% of what comes in.

And what will they do if we stiff them?

WHEN we stiff them, you mean.

"-At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it?-- Shall we expect some ... military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!--All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years."

The Education Department has failed,

I saw on the news in Chicongo,IL that 55% of the students in Cgo. fail to graduate. Yet they spend billions to educate these ingrates.

LOL! The present “black” potus is unprecedented in American history.

the lack off anyone with any private business experience in the WH staff is unprecedented in American history.
the takeover of our national private healthcare system- unprecedented in American history.

The size of Moochelle obama’s personal wait staff is unprecedented in American history.

obama use of AF One for joyrides every other day of his administration (328 trips in 2 years, per Drudge) is unprecedented in American history.

Moochelles billion dollar vaca trip to Spain with a posse of her closest friends - unprecedented.

Obamas golf time- unprecedented.

The way pelosi and Reid rammed rammed through thousands of pages of legislation without anyone reading it or knowing what was in it- unprecedented

The current debt ceiling - is unprecedented in American history?

Somehow “unprecedented in American history” is only a bad thing when it is not an obama move.

” us ordinary folks can’t borrow more on our credit card when we’re broke”

we can always threaten VISA that if they don’t raise our credit card limit, we wont be able to pay our credit card bill with the borrowed cash....yeah, that works in a real business sense

Think about what you just said; Is there any wonder, why this country cannot and will not recover? We are in the 11th hour of economic, spiritual and moral doom.

Under the rules of “The 9 Stages Of Civilization, we are between the 7th and 8th stage, from which there is no return once a civilization reaches this stage. America is 235 years old and the average civilization lasts 200 years.

The current condition of American society has gone so far beyond help, it will take a complete failure and revolution to change it. (3rd stage)

They will need to raise it, but obamma wants them to do it a bunch for a long time. They need to raise it a little at a time and attach it government reduction bill.

Interesting Dick Morris speech about the GOP strategy in the coming year. If you want to get to the meat of it, skip ahead about 20 mins.

If only someone in Congress would say what you just said. Can you imagine any legislator doing so? I can't.

I am not optimistic at all about the incoming Republicans, nor about the future of America.

Most likely, any "defunding" of the govt is going to happen on an individual basis: remove your child from public school, don't pay taxes, go Galt. And most sheeple won't.

Yet only two means will suffice to be taken seriously by our "leaders." Refusal to enable them with our wealth; and credible threats of violence from crowds at their doorsteps.

All we ever bring to their doorsteps are our wealth and our liberty, in easy installments.

We don’t have a taxing problem so much as a spending problem.

Get out the popcorn for this one!

You’re exactly right. There will be a big show about not-extending the debt limit, then it will pass by a small margin in the house and the senate.

We cannot balance the budget without touching Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Defense, and other politically suicidal areas. And if you don’t raise the debt limit, one of these is going to get whacked.

I will be shocked if Boehner makes a stand on this. Too many people depend on government checks. The FedGov will default eventually, of course, but not yet.

Obama’s people are misjudging the mood of the electorate. People see the need for budget cuts. The moment of truth will come when the cuts happen. Will people accept them, or only accept them for programs they don’t use?
