African-American leaders unite around Carol Moseley Braun for Mayor (Chicago)
Tribune ^ | 1/1/11 | John Chase and Kristen Schorsch

Posted on 01/03/2011 9:30:37 AM PST by tcrlaf

frican-American political leaders rallied around former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun on Saturday as a unity candidate best qualified to be Chicago mayor, capping a holiday week of private negotiations that left her the only major black politician in the campaign.

Flanked by prominent black elected officials who dropped out and endorsed her bid, Braun told a crowd at the weekly Rainbow/PUSH Coalition meeting on the South Side that she has "the most credentials and the most qualifications and experience of all of the candidates running" to replace retiring Mayor Richard Daley.

"And so they just chose the most qualified candidate for the job," said Braun, who made history as the nation's first black female senator but dropped out of elected politics after losing her re-election bid in 1998.

The blacks are rallying around the black candidate, no matter how corrupt she is, but it's not racism if DONE-WHILE-DEMOCRAT.

Chicago is about to "Detroit" itself....

I'm not sure about that. The anti-jew element of the dems is getting VERY big today. I think a lot of people are starting to see it.

Given that they have "graced" us with 0bambi, why do credentials, qualifications and experience matter to Dumbocrats?

It’s a shame the “blacks” rally around the party who represents Jim Crow, Robert (KKK) Byrd, George Wallace, Jessie Jackson, Sharpton, and other historical racists instead of Abraham Lincoln’s Republican Party, without which there’d be no Civil Rights.

Shame on them.

But, as a Chicagoan, you should know that the Democratic Primary will decide who will be Chicago’s next mayor, and that November is just kabuki.

Chicago won’t have a Nov. election, this year. The primaries will be on Feb. 22, and the general election will be on April 5. Chicago elections are nonpartisian, since Republicans are unlikely to win. The last time Chicago elected a Republican, for mayor, was 1927.

If it comes down to Carol and Rahm, it will be a funny little pickle for Obama.

He'll have to decide if he wants to throw one of them under the bus. He'll probably just avoid the issue, thereby throwing both under the bus.

It's a big bus.

Carol Mosely-Braun is hopelessly corrupt.

Here's some of Carol's close friends.

6/9/2008 ----Ex-Military Leaders Defend Former Nigerian Military Leader Abacha (right); Deny Looting of Treasury

At a 10 year anniversary prayer session to remember the passing away of former military ruler of Nigeria, General Sani Abacha, who ruled Nigeria from November 1993 to June 1998, other former military rulers, Generals Abubakar, Babaginda and Buhari absolve him of looting the national treasury.....

Great choice - Dead Fish Emmanual or C M Braun - Democrats all! I suggest that the GOP candidate runs on the most outrageous but legal electorate bribery campaign and force the Lefties into an untenable position. That is the way the Lefties operate, so give them a dose of their own medicine and break out the popcorn.

Not the case. It's a free-for-all.

"The way the city elects its mayor has changed since [former mayor Harold] Washington's days. Candidates used to run as Democrats and Republicans, and sometimes as a hastily formed third-party choice. These days, they run without party designations, and there is no primary, just a crowded municipal election and a runoff."

The last Chicago mayoral election, that used parties, was in 1995. The Republican, Ray Wardingley, got 3% of the vote.

Ya neglected to highlight the money quote from your link:

When the Tribune asked whether she'd ever run for office again, the departing senator replied: "Read my lips. Not. Never. Nein. Nyet."

That was end of 1998/beginning of 1999 I'm assuming.

She was against running before she was for running. If Bret Farve, The Laut, Art Bell, etc., can get away with it...

USA born black people REFUSE to assimilate into America. Determining, instead to continue the ‘slave mentality’ along with it's emphasis on bad language, lack of education and class! THEY refuse to become a “part” of what makes America works, choosing instead to be “separate and MORE equal in terms of federal funding, i.e., living off the federal government, aka, our tax money!

They can do for all of Chicago what they have done for the South and West sides of the city: make it unlivable for law-abiding, productive, taxpaying citizens. Daley had many faults, but he saved Chicago from becoming another Detroit or Gary. True, parts of Chicago look like Detroit now. But that is a demographic problem that has remained unsolvable just about everywhere in the nation. Certain demographics not only bring blight, but seem to revel in it. Should this crowd get the electoral license to destroy the entire city, it could go very quickly.

I consciously made the decision recently that 1) I was not in politics, and 2) I would no longer toe the party line in their political correct speech

In the past 2 years, since the obamanation regime began, I have seen people afraid to talk to one another in restaurants, etc. if the conversation was in anyway about the current news! That was NEVER the case in years past. Discourse was not mean, nor hateful, but it was truthful. No longer is that so. I'm tired of being afraid to speak the truth because it might cause the government to harm me. I'm no longer afraid of that. The minorities speak to one another in Twitter, etc using the most fowl, nasty racial words and NO ONE says a thing about it! but let a white person speak their mind, and it's “hate talk”... enough is enough.

There is no primary. There is a non partisan first round where if the leading candidate does not get 50% of the vote +1 there is a run off between the two leading candidates.

Why Meeks or Davis pulled out is a puzzlement both have more experience and a lot less baggage than Braun. If Braun gets past the first round to face Rham (which I hope she won’t, she’s a shill for Rahm both are going after Cesco). Chicago in either case is a big loser and the big push for the 2012 re-election of Obama is what this is all about will be on..
