If confession is good for the soul, let me pour out my soul for you. As I stood at the beginning of 2008, I find myself in the same position here as we now begin the very real discussions of who should be the candidate for the GOP in 2012.
Let me be clear: I will support the nominee, whoever she or he may be.
But right now I am not excited by or inspired by any of them save Sarah Palin and, as much as I love Sarah Palin, I am adamantly convinced that she cannot win given the ridiculous smears and hate thrown her way by Democrats and, frankly, by a lot of Republicans. She has been made radioactive

(Gov. Sarah Palin: :"You have to sacrifice to win. That's my philosophy in 6 words.")
The best question is this:
DIDN’T PENCE LOSE THE REDSTATE POLLS TO CAIN AND PALIN?
And the arrogance of Red State of making endorsement even before the primaries!

I think he could be a surprise candidate when people hear his depth on critical issues.

Pence is a good guy. But it’s delusional to think that he could get more votes than Palin. He needs a lot more grooming, first. More executive experience, more exposure.

Come on people! What we need is the WH for 4 years beginning in 2012! Then our up and comers will be ready. Hate to say it but it points to McDaniels and/or Sen.Corbett.
Why? Pence is a good legislator.
But since when do legislators make great executives these days?
It’s so annoying.

McDaniels did a good job as Governor, but I am still in a wait and see mode as none of the perspective candidates have inspired me. I like Pence but it looks like he may run for Governor. From what I read in the most recent edition of the National Review, John Bolton is a much more all around conservative than I had realized. His candidacy would be of interest even if it only served to lend more substance to the debates. Newt can play that role as well but I have a hard time seeing either get elected unless we have another national security disaster. In that case, Bolton may have an opening. Bolton is more than a match for Newt intellectually, has less baggage and is far less likely to stick his finger in the wind to determine a position to take.
