Greece follows U.S. example by building giant border wall to keep out illegal immigrants

The Greek government has unveiled plans to construct a wall along its 128-mile land border with Turkey in order to tackle the influx of illegal immigrants. Interior minister Christian Papoutsis said the wall was a necessary measure after more than 100,000 people illegally entered the Mediterranean nation last year. But the plans - which have compared with the 650-mile barrier along sections of the border between the U.S. and Mexico - have been criticised by the European Commission as a 'short-term measure' that does not deal with the root of the problem.

If they are REALLY following the example of the United States they will fail to complete the wall...

A spokesman said on Monday that for the EU Commission said that such proposals were 'short-term measures which will not allow us to tackle illegal immigration in a structural manner'.

'We made clear with Greece that the country needs sound and long-term structural reforms and measures to better manage its border, to better address the challenges linked to migration flows,' Michele Cercone said.

Same goofy philosophy as the USA liberals. Let me guess - the EU's long term solution is "Welcome the new neighbors."

Maybe the US Senate can help them develop "Comprehensive Immigration Reform"...

Gee, I never knew that there were that many Turks that wanted to become Greek Orthodox. I guess it’s the sugared almonds that they hand out at weddings.

Yes, goofy and non-sensical. Heard an NPR type talking about it with the usual objections. Won’t work, not the way to go, probable human rights violations etc. Oh, and of cours they were referred to as “undocumentd migrannts”.

If they follow the US example, they will spend billions on nearly useless cameras and motion-sensors. They will allow millions of illegals in, and then their leftist President will use the power of his office to attack any low-level law-enforcement official that tries to seriously deal with the problem.

So is THAT what the Greeks are doing?

A “virtual wall” that goes well with virtually useless politicians.

Greece is a small country, with a rather small population. Yet it is awash in illegal immigrants from the Muslim world, from Albania, from Africa, The Gypsies, Eastern Blockers, and even China!

Italy, having a much greater population, is even worse off. France? Toulon, Marseilles, in Provence ... like the Casbah ... Paris, suburbs where even the cops dare not go, Belgium, Overrun, Holland, Germany, and especially Scandinavia, which is now suffering an epidemic of Muslim rapists.

This ain't good. Our ancestors divided the known world into Christendom and Islam. They weren't stupid. Muslims are not assimilatable. They belong "over there."
