Good to bump this thread.

I remember when City to City came out, it was like an oasis in the desert that was disco.

I was in high school when "City to City" came out. 1978 was the year. At the time, I was not into what was classified as "adult contemporary" at the time. My tastes back then ran from Aerosmith to Zeppelin. But you could not escape "Baker Street" on the radio that summer. It was everywhere on the airwaves. Then "Right Down The Line" was the next single, another massive hit, and I just had to get the album at that point.

To be honest, I was not blown away at first. Again, I was more into hard rock at the time. But over the years, I go back to that album more and more.

Many people still don't make the connection that Rafferty co-wrote and sang the Stealers Wheel early 1970s hit called "Stuck In the Middle With You".

Even fewer people know that "Stuck In The Middle" was intended to be a parody of Bob Dylan.

Jeff Lynne parodied Dylan a few times too with ELO, and don't get me started on Mark Knopfler, who didn't think that was Dylan on "Sultans of Swing" the first time they heard it?
