Witnesses: (Former presidential advisor)John Wheeler Appeared Disoriented (before death)

Police in Delaware are slowly piecing together the details surrounding the death of former presidential advisor John P. "Jack" Wheeler III.

It now seems Wheeler spent at least two days wandering the streets of Wilmington disoriented.

Police say Wheeler traveled from Washington, D.C., where he worked, to Wilmington Tuesday on an AMTRAK train. He was last seen alive at 3:30 p.m. Thursday near the Hotel duPont parking garage at 10th and Orange streets.

Iman Goldsborough, the parking lot attendant, encountered a man she believes was Wheeler on Wednesday night near the intersection where he was last officially seen Thursday.

Goldsborough says the man came up to her looking for help finding his car, but he appeared disheveled and disoriented. He was without a coat and unable to find his car.

(According to police, Wheeler's car was parked in his monthly space at the DoubleTree Hotel's garage, closer to the train station.)

The man was wearing a suit and tie but was also only wearing one shoe and carrying the other. He said he wanted to get warm before paying for his ticket. Goldsborough said she thought the man seemed like he was suffering from dementia.

Kathleen Boyer, a security guard at the New Castle County Courthouse, said a man she now believes was Wheeler told her he was dropped off by his brother two days prior so he could visit his mother, in Wilmington. The man did not have any apparent injuries but did mention he was robbed of his briefcase. He was looking for a hotel and wanted to know where Front Street was.

Boyer, and two other employees, offered to help him and even offered him some money, which he declined.

Wow. . .great read!

Never had a doubt as to the foul play MO but have read only a little. Most interesting the lack of detailed follow-up and 'through' the entire investigation. (Am wondering if this is end of chapter; or 'end of story'. All to ask - is there more here, that gets closer to the truth of the 'who' of this?)

If Wheeler's death a 'hit'; and so designed to look like 'pathetic happenstance'; will we ever get close to the truth of his death? (All signs, of course, point to NO.. .)

This mystery is as perplexing as it is tragic; and certainly for none more, than his family. And not so great for others, who may at least feel, so threatened and forewarned.

I believe his high profile background probably inflates the prospect of murder; but if he was disoriented/asleep inside the dumpster - like some homeless drunk - it’s possible he could have been severely injured by an innocent passer-by tossing some heavy objects on his head - to include broken glass or sharp edges.

In retrospect; guess 'dumpsters' do not have 'trash compacting' MO'. So, one less concern per 'how'; though it does not change outcome. Don't know the 'street camera' operations; but seems like there would be enough to track Wheelers steps or at least take note if he were being followed. But, perhaps not. Not a lot of 'detailed' info being released. (Like, DID his brother, in fact, drop him off?)

/Why or why, did these folks not imagine that at least a phone call was warranted - to Wheeler's family or police/too bad.

Wheeler had dementia, and Vince Foster was a suicide.

Let's be thankful for small favors: at least Wheeler's death - according to the MSM - is being treated as homicide.

As to the dementia aspect, the purported sightings of the victim in a confused and unkempt state suggest the possibility that he was poisoned. But that doesn't seem to go with the way his body was found coming off a trash truck at a landfill.

I’m from DC and spent 10 years in Philly. I am quite familiar with bizarre behavior in urban areas. I still would have called the police, but that’s the kind of person I am.

Now it is quite possible that 1) it would have taken the police an hour to show up. Now that I think about it, it’s probably better to call the EMTs. 2) the police would let him walk. I’d still be able to look myself in the face because I would have done what I could do.

I'm a Chestnut Hill / Germantown native. Our family had been in Philly since the early 1600's. Every last one of us bugged out sadly, but with no regrets during the mid to late 1990's. Almost a 400 year run. Two of the family homes were in our family from the 1780's intil we sold them in the mid 1990's.

The reason we left was the corruption in the city. I blame it on Rich Kotite however when in public.

Most interesting the lack of detailed follow-up and 'through' the entire investigation.

That baffled me 14 years ago and it baffles me to this day. The former freaking Director of the CIA is found dead after going missing for nine days and the story is that he was alone, paddling a row boat one night in the middle of nowhere and he just died accidentally somehow?... And the big time "mainstream" newsrooms have no curiosity about this at all??

Whew... I didn't fall of the turnip truck yesterday.
This is one of the stinkiest, smelliest stories I ever heard of.

Now that Wheeler has been linked to “incendiary devices” planted at the house across the street from his, I think the cops are on a new trail.

If there is one thing that Philly cops know a lot about, it’s incendiary devices. They actually burned down several square blocks of the west philly section, tossing incendiary devices from a helicopter. They managed to burn a bunch of women and chil’run to death to boot.

Yep, over there by Cobbs Creek. I watched the whole thing on TV. I wonder what Ramona Africa is doing these days? And wasn’t the little boy who escaped named Birdie Africa? It’s hard to believe that happened over 25 years ago. Time flies.

The Americans living today have utterly failed to heed these words and have, instead, become just what their masters have always intended for them to be…imbeciles. May God have mercy on them all.

Can't argue with that part.

“#3, we don’t hear about massive numbers of birds falling out of the sky on the 4th of July.”

That's not really much of a mystery- birds flock together in large numbers in winter both to move south and to keep warm; these flocks disperse to breed in spring and summer and wouldn't be affected by July 4 fireworks in any noticeable quantity. Without the flock, single or pairs of breeding birds may get just as startled but would not be in danger of ramming into other birds in midflight as they would in winter.

The particular species of birds in question are known for massive flocks numbering in the millions during wintertime, so thick they baken trees with otherwise bare branches. Given that in at least one of the locations [if not both] the birds were killed along city streets lined with trees where fireworks would be thick at that time and where the rough and cold weather would have caused the flocks to tighten up even more, birds packing together for warmth, it would be surprising not to find a number of dead or injured birds from small flocks but these species travel in huge focks and the casualties would naturally be significant.

Bald eagles up along the Mississippi often dive on flocks of snow geese that blanket the floodplains- not in the hope of catching any on the wing, but in the hope of causing those on the ground to take flight in fear and confusion. In their rush to get airborne the geese collide with one another in numbers and the eagles find it very easy pickings to go after these disabled birds. Coyotes and foxes clean up after he eagles leave. And these eagle attacks are in broad daylight when the geese can see perfectly well to maneuver. In darkness, with night vision wiped out by random flashes of intense light, the flockss of small birds roosting in street trees would panic all the more.

He could have had a stroke, medication interactions, etc.

Lots hinges on what drove the Newark police to say “homicide”...and what the tox and autopsy say.

And how’d he get to Newark that night?

The police have so much to work from on this, I’d be surprised if they don’t know what went down, but are just building the timeline and other evidence if there’s a case.

Kathleen Boyer, a security guard at the New Castle County Courthouse [...]

For those not familiar with the area, the courthouse is at 5th and King, the address of the parking garage incident.

Of course, we don't know why he went to Newark, but if he was actually robbed earlier, perhaps the responding police saw those injuries on his body and assumed that those wounds had killed him immediately.

I’m wondering if it wasn’t several days before. The blaring TV, for example.

We don’t know who last saw him acting “normal,” and when that was.

Not to mention he says his briefcase was stolen; so perp is on the loose in parking gargage? Maybe? Well; hindsight happens - albeit; this still might have escaped attention of those involved. Again; all to sad an unfolding.
