ABC News says U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachmann is considering running for president and will confer this month with GOP officials in Iowa about her prospects in that early caucus state.
Citing an unnamed "source close to the three-term congresswoman," the network said in a report Wednesday that Bachmann will hold "multiple meetings to seek advice from political forces there and party elders close to the caucus process before coming to a final decision regarding a potential presidential run."
Bachmann, a Republican who represents Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District, has roots in Iowa, having been born in Waterloo, Iowa.
Bachmann also is the headliner at an Iowans for Tax Relief PAC fundraiser Jan. 21 in Des Moines, ABC noted.
Her trip to Iowa will be her third in eight months. Last week, she attended a GOP fundraiser in Michigan.
Asked about Bachmann's presidential intentions, her chief of staff, Andy Parrish, told ABC News: "Nothing is off the table. The congresswoman is excited about her first trip to Iowa this year."

Palin has the name recognition and star power. Bachman has the intelligence and would be able to do more as VP then Pres. (as unconstrained as Cheney was)

She is another whole level above Palin.
She is a woman of substance and can think on her feet and cool as cat burglar.
Finally an adult in the room. I would vote for her over broken glass for sure. If this is true, she is my first and only choice. Yes God is answering our prayers and sees we need her right now. Go Michele!!!!! I will vote for her in the Primary and the general!!!!! President Bachmann 2012!!!
She’s have my vote. I always hoped she would run. A Bachmann/Palin ticket or vise versa would be AMAZING..Just imagine the liberal heads exploding..I adore Michele, she runs, she has my full support

I agree wholeheartedly. Bachmann is in a whole other league than the shallow Palin. Unfortunately, members of the House almost never win their party’s nomination. Bachmann is very smart and knows this, so she’s probably running to be considered a vice presidential pick, which is ok by me.
Unfortunately, she was on the wrong side of that imo. For 5 years she was a U.S. Treasury Dept Attorney, representing the IRS (in her words)"in hundreds of cases" (both civil and criminal) prosecuting people who underpaid or failed to pay their taxes.
Other than that, I like just about everything about her and hope she does throw her hat in the ring. She'd be on my short list.

Don't care. Any President is as good as her appointees. I am fairly sure I would prefer her appointments to those of the pres__ent. Plus, at the inauguration, we can have her appear with Turner and Overdrive.
Well...at least she KNOWS the IRS! And, maybe could find a way to disempower them!
