Wheeler: Super Bloodshot Eyes

Eric Shawn

January 6, 2011

John Wheeler walked into a Wilmington, Delaware sandwich shop less than 24 hours before he was killed and had “super bloodshot eyes,” according to the person who sold him coffee. The clerk, who did not want to be identified, says he thought Wheeler was homeless and that clearly something was wrong.

"His eyes were the most bloodshot I have ever seen,” he told Fox News, saying that it appeared he had been wearing the same clothes for a long time, because the cuffs on his white shirt were filthy. But the clerk said when Wheeler started to talk, he appeared to interact normally and was mentally aware, ordering a cup of coffee. He told us he did not appear to be confused and disoriented as others have said, and that he sold him coffee at about 8 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, December 30th....

What would cause eyes to be blood shot? I’m imagining his were all red. Any chance a blood vessel ruptured?

What was Savage’s take on this?

Savage spoke of the government building near where he was spotted, being occupied by the SEC and other govt. agencies. He thinks it's "very scary" and suspicious but he could only speculate.

All of this described behavior seems very out of character for this man who was reportedly very smart, and involved in cyber activities or investigations of some sort.

Yes, it does seem the shoe is a big clue as to what may have happened.

I just don’t see the house being built across the street from him resulting in a lawsuit being part of this. Unless, of course, those people are part of the mob or something.

Could be a random act of robbery ?

In that video, Wheeler looks to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Of course, there are medical conditions that can cause the same behavior. The medical examiner has ruled it a homicide although he did not give a cause of death, but there must be something about the condition of Wheeler's body that indicates homicide to a trained, experienced ME. There simply hasn't been enough information released publicly for us to make sense of this case yet.

As for the shoe, given his obvious somewhat diminished capacity, at some point prior to when he was caught in that video, he could easily have tripped, had the shoe come off, then just picked it up and started carrying it rather than putting it back on.

If these news reports are accurate, the police say Wheeler appears to have changed at least some of his clothing during his final days. This leads me to wonder if he perhaps did make it back to his car before continuing his wanderings. A confused, well-to-do guy wandering the streets would be an easy mark for someone intent on robbery.

"rapid clenching and unclenching of the fingers"

That could be a sign of poisoning.

Your shoe observation is good sleuthing!

"Two days before John P. Wheeler III's body was found, parking garage videos showed him in a black suit with no tie, wearing only one shoe even though there was snow outside. The 66-year-old New Castle resident was carrying his other, ripped, burgundy loafer."

Alergic reaction?

Maybe this guy was a diabetic or had some other medical issue that wasn't managed properly?

“Savage” was just saying that this was VERY suspicious and was soliciting theories from his listeners.

Best one was a guy who called in and postulated that maybe Wheeler had found out the truth behind the origin of the wikileaks data.

Another mystery is how Wheeler’s body ended up in a dumpster in a heavily traveled commercial area of Newark, a college town located more than 13 miles away. The garbage truck that picked up Wheeler’s body started its route before 4:30 a.m. and arrived at the landfill at 10 a.m., after making 10 stops at a variety of businesses, including a public library, a seniors’ complex, and a car dealership. Many of the dumpsters were either locked or had surveillance cameras posted nearby. Police say they believe that Wheeler’s body was collected at the beginning of the route based on its location in the garbage truck.

Place your bets.

John Wheeler was murdered by:
1) Government agent by poisoning.
2) Foreign agent by poisoning.
3) Angry neighbor’s agent by delayed affects of assault.
4) Opportunistic mugger.
or
5) suffered from a delayed reaction to a mugging and tried to use his skills to catch the thief.
then
6) took a medication overdose and became alternately confused, cold and finally suffered from hypothermia in the dumpster; where he tried to find warmth and a place to rest/hide.
7) had a stroke or cardiac incident which caused confusion and disorientation and died from hypothermia in the dumpster.
8) before succumbing to hypothermia - he suffered injuries by the movement of the dumpster or persons throwing heavy trash on top of his comatose body.

Considerations: He was not approached or stopped by any police officers or reported as acting suspiciously or vulnerable to the elements - so it’s hard to imagine that he was wandering around for an extended period of time. It seems more likely that he holed up in one or more dumpsters for protection from the elements. Not wise - but from most videos and reports - he was not thinking clearly or he would have sought out help. Why didn’t he???????????????

The thing is, according to this report, he was lucid while having coffee the next day.

I thought about him being drugged as well.

ripped, burgundy loafer???....ripped to describe a shoe?? How do you rip a loafer??

No....someone is looking at something very wrong...Maybe there's a nail in the loafer...or glass....

DID EVERYONE SEE HIM WITH ONLY ONE SHOE ON???

If you don't wear a tie...you look homeless??

Just the facts....one says well dressed...one says he was a slob...another says his cuffs were filthy??? So did he fall and get his cuffs dirty...like duh...His pants appeared to have been damaged....

You mean all of those people and no one could put 2 and 2 together??

Let's say it like it is...."They really didn't want to get involved".

McInerney, a retired Air Force general, told America Live host Megyn Kelly that Wheeler had worked for at least two U.S. presidents and played a key role in raising funds to construct the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. Most importantly, however, he said Wheeler was well known as a biological and chemical warfare expert, that he thinks Wheeler was the victim of a professional hit, and that the matter should be investigated by the FBI — which leads to the question that appears as the headline of this post (and more).

Did you not know he worked in DOD? According to Lt. Co. McInnery, who appears on FOX said from the get go that this should have been immediately assigned to the FBI because of his work and security clearance. He was an expert in Bio/Chemical/Cyber Warfare.

1) Government agent by poisoning.

Poisoning may be how he got into a distressed condition, but would it explain how he ended up in a dumpster? Doesn’t seem likely he deposited himself there.
