Immigration bill clears Senate Judiciary Panel by 8-3 vote

FRANKFORT — All seven Republicans and one Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved a bill aimed at cracking down on illegal immigrants in Kentucky.

The legislation has drawn concerns from some groups, including the Kentucky Council of Churches, who have argued that its broad language could result in filling up the jails and encourage racial profiling.

The bill allows law enforcement agents to approach individuals and ask for their citizenship status.

Three Democrats — Sens. Jerry Rhoads of Madisonville, Robin Webb of Grayson and Perry Clark of Louisville — spoke against the bill and voted “No.”

Sen. John Schickel, a Republican from Union and a former U.S. Marshal, did most of the speaking in defense of the bill.

“We simply have to enforce the law. It’s simply not fair to people who have immigrated here and followed the law,” said. “And now we have so many of our laws being ignored.”

could result in filling up the jails...

What are jails for? They cost a wad of cash to build, supply and staff. Would they prefer they were empty?

Illegal aliens are criminals stealing from American taxpayers. The country is bankrupt thanks in part to illegals.

People need to understand the #1 reason for the wrecked economy is uncontrolled illegal immigration.
They allowed free home loans.
They built subdivisions.
They mandated new schools to be built for the population increase, with no increase in a taxable workforce.
They gave free health care and welfare for illegals.
They allowed manufacturing to go away.
They did not stop the free flow of money and materials made in the US from being sent to foreign countries.
That money that would have been reinvested in the US if the people were US citizens did not go to support local schools, hospitals, infrastructure.
The government has destroyed our economy in the last 15 years.
DemocRats with Rino enablers caused the meltdown........

It’s been claimed that they generate taxes, but that would be only if not paid under the table. Also not all are in the USA just to make a better “honest” living. And they have the nerve to complain about the Frito Bandito who only steals corn chips, not jobs.

I would assume they are an affiliate of the National Council of Churches.

“Deport em, jails empty, problem solved”

But before that happens we need to either wall the complete border or have BP with orders to shoot to kill. If not they’ll just waltz back over the border again and again and again.

Why is it just for Kentucky? And what are they going to do when Emperor Zerg doesn’t do anything with it? If he were interested in enforcing immigration laws, AZ would not have needed the bill they passed, and he wouldn’t be suing them over it. Sounds like someone is just trying to please political supporters with no real expectation of improvement in the situation.

Deport em again. Jails empty. Problem solved.

It costs, what? 200 bucks for a one way bus ticket?

Even if they come back in 2 weeks you still save money. What’s the likelihood of an illegal immigrant returning to the same state that he got deported from?

It’s real simple.

I’m a burglar. House number 1 has a big dog. House number 2 has none.

Who am I going to rob? I’m going to rob house number 2.

They will end up out of KY, and in MD or some blue state where they can get away with it.

I agree a 100%. I have been saying that for years. Most people don’t see it like that, tho. They just see cheap lettuce and manicured lawns.

“People need to understand the #1 reason for the wrecked economy is uncontrolled illegal immigration.”

The number one reason is welfare and other goodies.

This is about a bill in the Kentucky legislature. It appears it is going to pass in the Senate...but the House is controlled by Democrats as well as the governor - we’ll see if it gets further than just the Senate.

This is the KY state legislature, not federal. It helps when putting up headings like this to add (KY).

Yeah, maybe I should have done that...although the content of the article, starting with it occurring in Franfort, wasn’t hiding where it was happening...

...that its broad language could result in filling up the jails and encourage racial profiling.

Good. I have to prove my status every so many years to maintain my security clearance. And I am a natural born citizen. I shed no tears for them and hope they get caught. I am sick of paying for them and having them vote to enslave me with marxist democrats.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I didn’t pay close enough attention to it when reading it before opening my trap. Sorry.
