Amnesty Advocates Interrupt Birthright Event, Tackle Senior Citizen
Center for Immigration Studies ^ | Jan. 5, 2011 | John Feere

Posted on 01/06/2011 5:45:59 PM PST by AuntB

While attending a discussion on birthright citizenship held by the State Legislators for Legal Immigration at the National Press Club in Washington this morning, I was able to witness the true face of the pro-amnesty, pro-illegal immigration crowd. On at least four occasions, the so-called "pro-immigrant" activists attempted to stop discussion by rudely interrupting the speakers and shouting down state legislators and professors. ABC News has some raw video footage of the efforts to stifle debate, including the effort by one disruptive activist to "accidentally" fall while a senior citizen attempted to escort him to the door. The elderly gentleman was knocked down by the activist's phony, designed-to-create-sympathy tumble. The activist bounced back to his feet nearly right away and continued shouting; predictably the senior citizen took a few seconds longer to get back up, with no help from any reporter or the protestor.

One wonders whether the generally pro-amnesty journalists in attendance will have any commentary on the childish and rude behavior of the open-border crowd. One also wonders whether any of the pro-amnesty groups in attendance (e.g., ACLU, LULAC, National Immigration Forum, La Raza, the Leadership Conference) will decry the efforts to stifle debate.

It is mind-boggling that these advocates continue to use such tactics at press events – (for the record, I’ve experienced similar tactics while serving as a panelist at Harvard, as have my colleagues at a number of other forums throughout the country). The amnesty advocates fail to realize that their lack of professionalism and civility is one reason why the American public does not take them seriously. One would think that after a decade's-worth of failed attempts at the DREAM Act and similar measures, the amnesty crowd would change their methods. But it seems that their New Year's resolution was to become even more confrontational and more hostile to the idea of open debate.

While it is sad to see the open-borders crowd sink to such depths, it does indicate that they are losing the political fight over immigration policy. When one cannot change minds through open dialogue, the only option left is to silence opposition – and that is the current strategy for some amnesty advocates.

Beck reminds us that the Van Jones types and the marxists in power are terribly disappointed that Americans are not properly rioting on que, and are desperate to orchestrate such anarchy to further marxism while they still are in power and have their man Flint in the White House. This kind of action in this report reminds me of their aims.

It they keep going at this rate, they will at some point have a civil war going down. In you take into account, Census: Poverty Number May Be Millions Higher
One in Six Americans - Many of Them 65 and Older - Struggle in Poverty Due to Rising Medical Care and Other Costs

I just do not see how they believe America is in any position to give illegals anything. Country is in debt.Seniors get no SS COLA for 2 years. At some point this all going to burst.RE_>Local civil rights activists are fired up to discuss new immigration bills up for debate in the Texas legislature.

A bill filed by state representative Debbie Riddle would allow police to check a person’s immigration status on “reasonable suspicion” -similar to the Arizona law.

She says Texans are tired of illegal immigration being ignored.

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), on the other hand, disagree.

Thursday morning local LULAC representatives and other community leaders announced they will travel to the State Capitol Tuesday — when the legislature convenes — to protest those bills.

The group is urging the Latino community and others opposed to the immigration-related bills to protest with them.

The caravan to the Texas Capitol will leave Tuesday morning at 7 from the Cesar Chavez Service Center located at 1504 E. Commerce Street.

More terrorism from the foreign nationals illegally in our country attempting to take it over.

That's all it is.

YEP! What boggles the mind is that some so called conservatives are so perfectly willing to aid them in doing so.

Follow the $$$

I live in Maine. Our new GOP TEA Party governor, Paul Le Page, was sworn in yesterday.

Today, by executive order, he repealed an edict by his democrat predecessor which barred police and other governmental officials from asking the immigration status of people they encounter. Police and government employees are now free to ask the immigration status of everyone and anyone.

Maine WAS a sanctuary state....that has come to an end.

I proudly voted for our new governor last November. He’s a breath of fresh air.

idea of open debate

AuntB...I came to the conclusion, long ago, the
open borders crowd will not engage in open debate,
for the open borders crowd knows there is no
excuse for breaking established law. The law sometimes
fails the law abiding, yet the law is much more
adapt at not failing those who are determined to
break the law. By this thought, civility is always
an impediment to the lawless, whereas civility for
the law abiding is also sometimes an impediment.
It is my opinion that the law was never intended
to be fair or just, simply the aim was and is to
generate order, as best as may be attained. For
a law breaker to engage in debate is to
force the law breaker to acknowledge the existence
of the law. A law breaker cannot debate after having
acknowledged the existence of the law, for at that point
the law breaker has stated a contradiction. The same
does not apply to a law abiding person.
This is my humble opinion.

To expand on one point....
It is my opinion that the law was never intended
to be fair or just, simply the aim was and is to
generate order, as best as may be attained.
Once the law abiding witness special treatment for
those who break the law and the law breakers are rewarded,
all order or control begins to break down. This, regrettably,
is what is being witnessed by our generation. To
continue on this path is not a foundation on which
society can continue to stand for continuing generations.
While I do not know for certain, and I am only stating an opinion,
I have to choose to believe the law with all its flaws
is still the basis of a continuing civilization, and
without equal justice, under that group of God's laws
and man's laws , mankind will disintegrate into chaos.
Regrettably, this may be the intent of many who now hold
the reins of power...imho

One would think that after a decade's-worth of failed attempts at the DREAM Act and similar measures, the amnesty crowd would change their methods.

I've often wondered this, too, why they are so demanding, rude, arrogant and in-your-face, waving their Mexican flags and calling us names. All they'd have to do is pretend to be poor, humble people, saying, "All we want is to be a part of your wonderful country, sniff, sniff," then every bleeding heart liberal in America would dissolve into a crying, slobbering mess and would bend over backwards to give them even more. Instead they are nasty and demanding. I think part of it is the coddling that they get in our schools, being told that they are superior, that their land was stolen from them, that they are owed something, etc. I hope their arrogance will eventually be their undoing as more and more Americans watch their despicable behavior in utter disgust, to where even liberals will say "enough is enough."

The problem is,they do NOT want to be part of this country, they want to change it into another 3rd world dump like Mexico, and they’re making progress!

Snowe is up for re-election in 2012. The TEA Party is already planning a challenge to her in the primary. Collins.....we have to wait until 2014....the same year Lindsey Gramnesty is up for re-election. They all need to be ex-senators.

Did I not read some where that one of them is not running for re-election? Collins perhaps?

I hope the TEA Party finds a REAL conservative for you to vote for.
