John Edwards proposed to mistress Rielle Hunter -- just weeks after wife Elizabeth dies: report
New York Daily News ^ | Friday, January 7th 2011 | Aliyah Shahid

John Edwards has asked his mistress and baby mama, Rielle Hunter, to marry him -- just weeks after burying his wife, who lost a courageous battle to breast cancer, the National Enquirer reported on Thursday.

Over the holidays, the disgraced ex-presidential candidate introduced his three children, Cate, 28, Emma Claire, 12, and Jack, 10, to the blonde campaign videographer.

And to top it off, Hunter, 46, told Edwards' kids to "Call me Mommy," a source told the tabloid.

While the National Enquirer first broke the story of the affair between the disgraced ex-presidential candidate and Hunter, they've gotten the bit about an engagement wrong before.

The publication reported last February that Edwards popped the big question and that the duo was purchasing an exquisite $3.5 million beachfront home. The story was later discredited.

But according to the new report, the two-timing former senator pledged "his love to Rielle" and promised "they would eventually 'become one big, happy family.'"

Elizabeth Edwards, who was married for 33 years to her husband, died of cancer on Dec. 7. On Thursday, it was revealed she left everything in her possession to their three children, leaving her estranged husband out in the cold.

Edwards admitted last year that he fathered a daughter with Hunter, whom he began having an extramarital affair with during his run for President in 2008.

The wronged wife would be furious if she found out Edwards proposed to Rielle, according to the Enquirer.

"Elizabeth must be turning over in her grave," a source told the tabloid.

Here in the Raleigh area, the local news has been putting this in their top stories news briefs but adding that “the family” has already stated the report is false.

Elizabeth deserved him too. Her getting cancer is a separate issue, she was his Hillary in his career and knew exactly what kind of sleaze John was. When it worked for her she was all for it. She stupidly thought he only screw over everyone else but her.

I can feel sorry for the kids losing a parent, but even those kids have been RAISED by these two liberal slimes and they are probably hopelessly bent just like their folks.

LOL

I am surprised that anybody expected anything different from Edwards.

He knocked up the video Queen in 2008 - so had been cheating on his Harpy wife for **at least** four years before poor old Beth passed on.

How many times have you seen someone get a divorce and just weeks or a few months later "suddenly discover" a new love and get married? Or did they just marry the person they had been seeing all along?

Had John not been a national pol and Beth not a 'advocate' would anyone care? I didn't and I don't. With all the other stuff going on, I find it hard to belive this get any press time at....

According to the wags John Edwards proposed to his mistress while his wife Elizabeth was still alive. Hunter was told by Edwards that Dave Matthews would sing at there wedding. What an s.o.b. He wasn’t even thinking about his other children.

John Edward’s timing makes me think of Hamlet.

HORATIO
My lord, I came to see your father’s funeral.

HAMLET
I pray thee, do not mock me, fellow-student;
I think it was to see my mother’s wedding.

HORATIO
Indeed, my lord, it followed hard upon.

HAMLET
Thrift, thrift, Horatio! the funeral baked meats
Did coldly furnish forth the marriage tables.

If there are any lawyers on, I would love to know how EE got to leave everything to their children. It seems to me that she couldn’t exclude JohnBoy from anything given that they were still married.

Had Edwards been elected perhaps we would have been spared the odious reforms that BHO has given us in medical insurance and finance.

I don't know how credible they are, but here's what Divorce Saloon says:

"I don’t think John Edwards is crass enough to challenge this will. But I think if he wanted to, he could challenge it and get a forced share, about 1/3 of Elizabeth’s estate since they were not divorced. Well, he can in some states. Not so sure about North Carolina. He won’t challenge it though. He’s not that coarse and crass and unfeeling. He will totally alienate his children. But if he really, really wanted to challenge this will? I think he could."

Sure would be wonderful if the oldest offspring could go to the courts & get complete custody of the 2 younger children & all live in the big house that was built a couple of years ago.

Would be even better if the courts would put in place a restraining order to keep the Hunter skank away from the kids—all 3 of them.

If I were that oldest child, I would seriously think about this exact scenario.

Good for Elizabeth that she wrote John completely out of the will. Don’t know the status of the house ownership, thi.

When a man marries his mistress he creates a job opening, or something like that.

kinda looks like Sea Hag... on a BAD day

Sadly, she looks like Rod Stewart in her "good" photos.

From everything I've read, Elizabeth had a horrible personality; however, she was a helluva lot cuter than skanky Rielle.

A triple bagger.

1 for her.
1 for you in case her's falls off.
1 for your dog so he'll still respect you.
