Turns Out the Homeless Man with the Golden Voice Had a Home to go to All Along ...
FoxNation.com ^ | Jan 7

Posted on 01/07/2011 12:21:57 PM PST by JesseWatters

A viral video vaulted Ted Williams and his golden voice to fame, but the real hero of this story is the woman he left behind. Patricia Kirtley raised four daughters alone after Williams split 23 years ago and dove down the rabbit hole of drugs. Not only that, Kirtley took in the baby boy the radioman had with another woman and raised him as her own. Oh, and by the way, she's partially blind.

Hmmm, this fellow has enough lack of morality to perhaps be Obama’s father.

Sleazy - check.

I expect she’ll be wanting some of his new paycheck. Another heartwarming liberal handout gone awry.

Oh well, at least now he can pay some child support.

That’s what alcohol and drugs will do to a person, hopefully now he will continue on the right path, and help his family as he will be able to, stay clean and keep GOD in his life...

He will be A-OKay..

I wish him all the best!

“Turns out?” What does that mean? Was he Disney movie homeless? Hardly.

Drugs, booze, and rock bottom - was everyone fooling themselves that he didn’t hurt others on the way down? That’s all part and parcel in the downward spiral.

Whoopie Goldberg, when she first hit the big time back in the mid-1980s, was promoted as being "homeless," a homeless person, living in a shelter, of extraordinary talent. Some promoter (Joe Papp, perhaps?) learned of her comedic talent and gave her a one-woman show, put her on Broadway.

This sounds very similar.

Nice guy. Right. As far as I'm concerned this guy is a damn sociopath. This story has more holes than swiss cheese.

Ten to one it all blows up as soon as the real story gets out.

Well lets hope the guy makes it right with his kids...but then it never ceases to amaze me the ol’ x-wives come out of the closet when there’s money to be had...and the sob story with it. In the end we all pay for these peoples mistakes one way or another. Maybe this story will have a better ending then most...and matters will be settled fairly between them. I have many doubts.

Tim Conway Jr., (yes, the son of THE Tim Conway) a talk show host on KFI in Los Angeles 7 - 10 p.m. weeknights, was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS last night, in the part of the show from 7:30-8 p.m., in his merciless making-fun of this "Golden Voice" fraudster. He played clips from the guy's interview with Matt Lauer, and commented, mimicking the homeless guy, mocking him, and calling it smack-dab on the money ... I was nearly rolling on the floor I was laughing so hard.

Recommended for anyone who wants a good belly-laugh -- google KFI AM 640 and archives of Tim Conway Jr.'s show yesterday, Jan. 6, 7:30-8 p.m.

I dunno, when I first heard this story it reminded me of the whole, engineered Susan Boyle story on Britain’s Got Talant. Then his mother lost him at the airport, and my heart really went out to the woman. Now this. The smartest thing Patricia Kirtley can do is to SUE his cavalier bum for everything he gets from that fat contract he just signed. An inability to pay is no excuse, according to a defrocked former judge I once knew. Get him for every single year he was too busy partying to pay.

From the moment I saw the video and read the articles (a couple of days after... i’m out of touch) my reaction was “high risk”. It’s a warm fuzzy story but there was no way you could not expect this guy to have ongoing emotional, mental and physical issues. To expect him to at any level all of a sudden have it together is unreasonable. Having said all of that I hope the right people come along side of him and he figures some things out. He could very well end up right back in the trash bin of society... but part me of always thinks he could land on Howard Stern and stay there for years.

Did no one expect some nasty wreckage in his past?

He and his mother were on Good Morning America this morning. He's not hiding anything, he admitted matter of factly that he's been in and out of all types of abuse rehab programs most of his life and that he's a convicted felon.

As far as this article bringing up a wife and kids, well, that's his business. It's quite likely they have already dealt with him many years ago.......

It was a good story which I really enjoyed especially how he felt so happy and proud to become the "Voice" of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.......LOL!

My only hope for the guy is that he stays drug and alcohol free since it's apparent God has given him a final chance......He mentioned two people in the audience who I suspect are "handlers" associated with Kraft and how they were "clean and sober" I think he said.

I was once told, “it is bad when you turn your back on your family. It will be worse if your family turns their back on you.” That is the question which this story will truly be told.

If the wife has received any kind of state assistance for these chilren over the years, the state will come after him for the past due child support if there was a court order for it. It doesn’t matter whether the wife wants him prosecuted or not and it doesn’t matter that the kids are now over 18. It’s contempt and he’ll have to pay the determined arrears or be locked up. Even if he stays out of Ohio, they will garnish his wages for it. Happens every day.

According to the article, "Williams called once in a while, and Kirtley (the woman he abandoned) would hear that baritone voice she fell in love with at first sound. They stayed friendly, and he might come for Thanksgiving dinner..."

Certainly what he did was wrong, and yes, he needs to make financial and emotional amends to the best of his ability, but it seems she bears no grudge and has forgiven him.

Perhaps she's just a bigger human being than a lot of people here.

I recognize that lingo. You are correct. Obviously he did some bad things in the past. He should neither dwell on it or shut the door on it, but what he does from this point with this opportunity will determine whether he can stay sober. If he can deal with the guilt of the past without using, perhaps by using a Power Greater than Himself, and make amends as best he can from this point on, he can find some peace.

If anyone thinks that 20 years of abuse was going to happen without harming those around him, they are naive. That is why Drug and Alcohol abuse is so destructive.

It certainly appears the whole story has yet to come out. But hey, if his wife says it's water over the dam who am I to argue. More power to them both if the state gets there's and she gets hers... and it's a done deal. Meanwhile the guys got a ways to go before he can handle his “new” notoriety...the very thing which appears to have helped get him in trouble in the first place. Some can handle this, some cannot. The end remains to be seen...but at some point he will have to go it alone without “handlers”.

Question? How come after 2 1/2 years the guy only got so far as peddling in the streets even after he was “dry”? Guess those who assist these addicts can answer that best. Just seems a lifetime of living on the street as he has is going to take a-long long time to come out of psychologically.

I guess everyone believed he was one of God’s perfect saints? Come on, there had to be some reason he was living in a cardboard box and panhandling on a freeway off ramp. Of course he had a zillion skeletons in his closet. So what? He has a chance to turn it all around and I pray he makes it, but lets don’t pretend we’re shocked that his personal history is a mess.

That was my point. You don’t get to where he was without leaving a lot of wreckage along the way. He can’t change that, he can only try to make amends to those people, and make sure he does no more damage in the future.

And I liked him on Saturday Night Live under the name "Tim Meadows".

But taking the name of a famous Red Sox baseball player for his latest gig is over the top.
