Gas Prices Under President Obama in Pictures
The Heritage Foundation ^ | January 7th, 2011 | Conn Carroll

Barack Obama’s Energy Secretary Steven Chu wants to “figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” At the time he made the statement, gas cost $7 – $8 a gallon in Europe.

Fact: Since taking office, President Obama’s entire energy agenda has made a gallon of gas more expensive:

•Immediately after taking office in 2009, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, canceled 77 leases for oil and gas drilling in Utah.

•The EPA announced new rules mandating the use of 36 billion gallons worth of renewable fuels (like ethanol) by 2020.

•This summer President Obama needlessly instituted, not one, but two outright drilling bans in the Gulf of Mexico.

FUSC !

Except Europe has a good public transportation system that we don’t have. So increase the cost of gas, therefore, we don’t go anyplace to take vacation but instead stay home, and work very hard to pay taxes and help the corporate executives make even more money since they can afford government created inflation !

Remember the nightly news when President Bush was in office every night the drum beat about the gas prices? I do and I didn’t like the gas prices going up then or now the difference though is unbelievable we rarely hear about the increases now we just feel it at the pump.

’ Europe has a good public transportation system..’ ?

Their electric trains can not run when it is cold or snowy.

England , Sweden, Ireland, and elsewhere the electric trains were parked during the recent cold and snow

If Ms. Palin runs an energy independence campaign, and gas costs $5 / gal. in 2012, she will be Pres. Palin.

WRONG!!!! Europe's public transpotation works for THEM because everything is CLOSE TOGETHER. WE ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE EUROPE!!!!! We don't have public transportation because it's not going to work here.

Grrr!!!! Take a road trip across the US, people. Drive from Wisconsin to Kansas once (a trip we make twice yearly) and see how efficient a choo choo would be for transporting people and goods and services across great spans of NOTHING.

what we really need is an "Old Spice" commercial. "Look at Europe(crowded city train station)....now look at America(wide open spaces).....look at Europe again (mini toy car filling up with $8.00 a gallon gas)....now look at America - (SUV filling up at 2 bucks).

2008 U.S. Gas Price Year in Review

Dec. 31, 2008—Crude oil prices plummet below $37 a barrel while the U.S. average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline falls to an amazing 5-year low of $1.61.

Obama: I’d like higher gas prices, just not so quickly

June 11, 2008—According to Barack Obama, high gas prices don’t really constitute a problem for Americans. He stated yesterday that the reason for our anger is the rapid increase in prices, not the prices themselves. Obama claimed that Americans would have accepted a “gradual adjustment” to the current cost

Is a lease not a contract? Can't/shouldn't the people holding the "canceled" leases sue Ken Salazar and the fedgov for breach of contract?

Well back then gas prices went up because Bush/Cheney were enriching their oil buddies, today they're going up out of compassion for the environment, therefore there's no reason to haul oil execs before congress. </s>

Let’s say for a second that the only reason prices are going up is due to the lessening value of the US$. With that, natural gas is still in oversupply, it’s everywhere, with more coming online. This with overburdened regulations and its attached bureaucracy.

Imagine what would happen without all the governmental oversight.

Natural gas engines (been around for years, easy to convert gas engines to use it) are a better alternative to electric even diesel now is efficient.

Looking at that chart the decrease -8% would have been totally Bush’s. IOW nothing the groundwork was laid by the previous Clinton misAdministration. The numbers of Obama’s would be the two years of Reid, and Pelousey playing their Leftist games setting the precedent for Obama’s flight to +55% almost immediately after his timer was set.

Good work Democrats. I salute you with the single Mr. Digit salute.

No big deal. According to Lindsey Williams, gasoline is set to hit $ 5 per gallon soon. Oil will skyrocket to $ 150 + per barrel and the dollar is going to collapse:

Part 1 . . . Part 2

Obama is just like Hitler. Don't blame me. I'm just the messenger . . .
