Accused Tucson Gunman Described as 'Pot-smoking Loner'

TUSCON, Ariz ( KTLA) -- Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged Tucson gunman, was described Saturday as a politically radical loner. Now an internet trail emerged in which he apparently railed against the US government and told friends: "Please don't be mad at me".

There are unconfirmed reports that 22 year old Jared Lee Loughner once met with Rep. Giffords in 2007. A former high school friend said that he had often talked about meeting and talking with the congresswoman.

Arizona court records show Loughner has twice been charged with previous offenses. The first, in October 2007, related to the possession of drug paraphernalia. It was unclear what the second, a year later, related to. Both charges were dismissed after Loughner completed a "diversion program".

People who knew him described him as philosophical, a person who read a lot of books. On his YouTube page, Loughner listed among his favorite books "The Communist Manifesto," "Siddhartha," "The Old Man And The Sea," "Gulliver's Travels," "Mein Kampf," "The Republic" and "Meno."

One former high school friend Tweeted about knowing the accused gunman: "He was a pot head and into rock, like Hendrix, The Doors, Anti-Flag," she wrote. "I haven't seen him in person since 2007 in a sign language class. As I knew him he was left wing, quite liberal and oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy. He had a lot of friends until he got alcohol poisoning in 2006 and dropped out of school. Mainly a loner, very philosophical."

When are the talking heads going to figure out that the NEA is ultimately responsible for this?

Well I remember about 90 minutes ago when Democrat 30 year Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik went off on a rant - not just once but about four times - about how today’s violence was caused by those in “radio and TV” who “inflame” and incite. Dupnik is nearly as dangerous as the perp, he’s WAY out of line and borderline irrational about this to have brought it up so many times - even at the very end as he was leaving the podium he came back to it again for one last rant.

He needs to be taken down a few notches, if not completely out of the picture, he’s lost his objectivity just like he did over the AZ Immigration bill which he called “racist” and refused to enforce.

Pima County residents deserve better than a 75 year old half-deaf leftie with an attitude.

It’s pretty clear the more we learn about this guy that if Jesse Kelly had been standing there as Congressman he likely would have been shot, too - Mein Kampf and Communist Manifesto among his favorite books, believed the government was trying to control us through the use of grammar, etc. He was out to kill her as a prominent government official.

It is disgusting that rather than make posts to request prayers and voice concern about those who were killed and wounded in this shooting, the first order of business for some of the liberals was to see how they could use it for political benefit. Immediately Daily Kos posted that Sarah Palin inspired the shooting, others said it must be people involved in the Tea Party.

Although there were a few exceptions among the thousands of us, I am heartened that most of us here on this forum were first concerned with the fact that human beings had been brutally attacked vs. anything political being first and foremost on our minds, the same as we would have been had the Congresswoman been a Republican.

It’s open season o conservatives all over the media. Obviously it is too soon for anyone to reconstruct the shooter’smental state and motives, within minutes of the shooting leftists started blaming Sarah Palin and “bigotry”.

But wait a second, this woman was tough on illegal immigrants. Didn’t she just vote against Nancy Pelosi? What evidence is there anywhere that this shooter was motivated by conservatives?

One of the dead includes a federal judge appointed by the elder BUSH. So then was it an attack on republicans?

The liberals were primed to go after conservatives after any incident. Within a short time, Yahoo answers had a poster stating that thsi shooter praised Glenn Beck and Fox News.

>> yer already the word has gone around the world that he’s a product of Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement.

Exactly.

All the deceitful Media needs to do is exploit emotional Liberals by quoting their thoughtless, reactionary opinions on the issue.

No mention in the MSM that the shooter is a Government Employee.

He is probably a member of SEIU, which is known for violence.

Blueboy has sent out a post tonight apologizing for his statements regarding Gillfords. I doubt the suspect has access to the Internet.

All that hate stirred up by the left is bound to tip an unstable mind here and there. Judging from the crop of liberals we are cursed with, it is surprising this sort of insanity doesn’t happen more often.

Dupnik was going to “perp walk” the shooter in public! Can you say “Jack Ruby”? Now I hear the FBI took control of the suspect and cancelled the public exhibition.

But what’s that got to do with BlueBoy?

Was there a reference to that name or Kos on the shooters youtube page?

What am I missing here?

Has that been absolutely identified as his writings? From what I’ve read he ‘met’ Giffords once or twice. The person who wrote this claims to have worked for her and raised thousands $.

“I worked for an idiot Mexican-American rightwinger who ran for Congress in the 1990s. And all she did was preach social issues to Latin voters from the rooftops. Well, it didn’t work.”

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/1/7/934062/-Response-to-Latino-Demographic-Thread

It does not seem that way, but who knows what Kos is up to.

here’s what Kossack Blue Boy had to say today about his post: (which you referenced) he’s railing against Freepers, etc.

BLUE BOY”yes i am fully aware. VERY bad timing on my part.

as the understatement of the year. but how was i supposed to know? and i am letting go of my anger at Giffords for helping the media create an anti-Pelosi and anti-111th Congress meme by being one of NINETEEN Democrats who failed to vote for my girl Nancy for Minority Leader. I am OF COURSE sooo glad Giffords looks like she will recover and i so hope she recovers quickly to get back on the horse and and back to representing us. but i still am not happy about her vote against Pelosi.

The freepers, teabaggers, and repugs in general are just trying to preliminarily deflect any blame when it is inevitably found out that this assassin has ties and/or sympathies to the far right. and they know this. i am SURE this killer voted for that fascist fuckball, Jesse Kelly. and i am SURE he’s a registered repug.”

****vitriolic guy, that Blue Boy

But look at the first paragraph. He “railed” against the government. That’s about as far as most people will read. They don’t identify him as a liberal until the end of the article.
