On January 8, 2011, at approximately 10:00 a.m., deputies responded to the Safeway located at the southeast corner of Oracle and Ina Road. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was holding a town hall meeting at the location when a 22 year old male opened fire with a handgun. At least 18 individuals were injured, including the Congresswoman. Another individual was seen at the location, possibly associated with the suspect. He is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 40-50 years old, dark hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket. Anyone who knows the identity of this individual is asked to contact 911, 88-CRIME or the Federal Bureau of Investigation at (520) 791-6974.

The Sheriff has been much less than impressive. I think his office was the first one to announce the Congresswoman's death. He also admitted that the shooter had previously had multiple interactions with law enforcement, including for death threats.

This Pima County Sheriff’s Dept. is grasping at straws. This was a lone nut shooter and he had no friends, let alone an accomplice. Lone killer nuts pop up here and abroad now and then and are hard to predict or guard against. The press and this Sheriff’s Dept. are sloppy or have an agenda, so ignore these first reports.
