Posted on 01/09/2011 3:34:14 PM PST by La Lydia
In last Thursdays column, Paul Krugman admitted to having fun watching right-wingers go wild. One of the things that apparently delighted him was the map which Sarah Palin posted on her Facebook page...Each of the cross-hairs represents a Democrat from a conservative district who voted in favor of health reform. Immediately after highlighting the map, Krugman wrote:
All of this goes far beyond politics as usual youll search in vain for anything comparably menacing, anything that even hinted at an appeal to violence, from members of Congress, let alone senior party officials .to find anything like what were seeing now you have to go back to the last time a Democrat was president.
Really, Paul? Ill search in vain?
The map appears on this page of the Democratic Leadership Committee website (dated 2004 during the Bush years). I guess we could argue over whether the DLC counts as senior party officials but theyre certainly as much a part of the party as Palin who, after all, currently holds no elected office.
Granted these are bulls-eyes instead of gun-sights, and the targets are states not individual congressmen. But were really splitting hairs at this point. This map and the language it uses (Behind enemy lines!) are, if anything, more militant than what Palin used in her Facebook posting. But wait, theres more!
When Palins map became an issue, Rep. Chris Van Hollen, leader of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), rushed on MSNBC to denounce it, telling Chris Matthews:
I really think that that is crossing a line In this particular environment I think its really dangerous to try and make your point in that particular way because there are people who are taking that kind of thing seriously.
Really, Chris? So what do you think about this map?
Each one of those red targets represents a Targeted Republican like this one:
Theres even a helpful legend that makes it clear thats precisely what the little red targets represent:
Youll never guess where I found this map. Thats right, its on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) website. They launched the site and the map on February 23rd of this last year, making it just over a month year old. And yet Van Hollen was quoted by Politico just today denouncing Republicans for pouring more and more gasoline on the flames. Right back at you, pal.
Rep. Van Hollen used MSNBC to claim Palins map was dangerous. In fact, the website of the organization he runs has a nearly identical map. Rep. Van Hollen should be asked to explain the differences between the two maps. Specifically, what makes Palins map dangerous and his map not so much?
Paul Krugman used the megaphone of the NY Times to state that Palins Facebook map went far beyond politics as usual. He further claimed, you will search in vain for anything comparably menacing
from members of Congress. Notice he didnt say it was hard to find or rare. He said, in effect, that it didnt exist. But since my search was not in vain, the Times should issue a correction noting that Krugman got it wrong.....
If the Times issued a correction every time Krugman got something wrong, they wouldn't have time or space for anything else.
Wait a minute...maybe that's not such a bad idea.
The [above] map appears on this page of the Democratic Leadership Committee website (dated 2004 during the Bush years)....
...Each one of those red targets represents a Targeted Republican:
Register marks frighten liberals more than do bulls-eye targets.
Obamas political vitriol ...
They bring a knife, we bring a gun
- to his supporters: Get in their faces!
- on ACORN Mobs: I dont want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! Im angry!
- to his mercenary army: Hit back twice as hard
- on the private sector: We talk to these folk. So I know whose ass to kick.
- to voters: Republican victory would mean hand-to-hand combat
- to liberal supporters: Its time to fight for it.
- to Latino supporters: Punish your enemies.
- to Democrats: Im itching for a fight.
Again, victory for the blogosphere as it again proves the Lamestreammedia can no longer hide its lies.
On this one piece of “the story” and the story as a whole, we’ll leave it to Rush, and a few of the talking heads on Fox, knowing THEY do not ignore the blogosphere, to again help “the media” as whole redeem itself through the actions of at least a few of its better members.
"I used to work as a four-color proof maker in a digital prepress facility. These are registration marks slightly out of registration. Makes me laugh."
Looks to be promoting violence against women, IMO.
I consider that image a death threat. Has the FBI been notified? Do they care, or only if the threat is against a National Socialist?
Saw on another comments page the “crosshairs” used on the map are actually a google positioning indicator called Unicode 2316.
Doesn’t matter. Facts be damned.
Just to clarify, that picture is from 2009.
But it exhibits the hypocrisy of the left when they imply controversial images belong exclusively to conservatives.

Wearing that T-Shirt and seeing who laughs would be a great exercise. I am willing to bet very few under 40 would get it :)
Vice President Biden Wants to Strangle Opponents
Democrat Harry Mitchell Places Opponent in Crosshairs
For the entire W Presidency, we heard kill Bush.
I remember seeing Bill and Hillary Clinton coming out of the Toronto film festival showing of “Death of a President” and laughing as they walked down the stairs at the front door.
I also specifically remember Kerry talking about ‘taking out’ (W). There was the “snipers wanted” story.
Years and years of signs that were pure hate and a desire to kill a sitting President. The Left and the enemedia were in support of it all. All.
Now, the Left is trying to eliminate Sarah as a potential Presidential candidate by any means necessary, this being only the most recent. They are simply terrified of her. And, frankly, if she is the next President, they will start with the hate signs and such all over again.
That being said, they’ve gone from W to Sarah to Tea Party...and, if not stopped, to everyone.
Heck, I wonder how many would even recognize that shirt as CMYK...
