This entire family does not do business in or even visit states that do not have reciprocity with FL concealed weapon or firearm license.

I'm headed to FL tomorrow and the only state on my trip the does not recognize my PA carry permit is South Carolina... go figure.

One of the reasons I like spending time in FL is because I am legally self protected.

Carrying does not make you immune from the crazies, but it does afford you the opportunity to protect yourself and maybe save your life.

Do you always carry a Fire extinguisher in your car?

Do you always carry a cell phone with you at all times?

Do you always have a first-aide kit in your home?

These are all items you have in case of emergency, why are Guns the odd-ball in that group?

That Napolitano thing said it wants the backscanners installed at places other than airports : Bus terminals , train depots, on cruise ships, shopping malls and other retail places, and other locations. It was forced to back down, but that shows what TPTB want : These obscene and degrading scanners virtually everywhere. They will try again.

Congressman Giffords was shot outside a grocery store. This may not lead to scanners installed at grocery stores across the nation, but you can bet they will try to use the shooting to at least call for just that. As the attack fades from the media and then from memory, TPTB will work quietly behind the scenes to work on expanding the use of scanners to more and more places nationwide.

If they succeed , CCW will be a dead letter, even if not banned outright. How can you exercise your right to conceal carry if virtually everywhere you go you're forced to walk through one of these humiliating "naked image" scanners?

If TPTB get their way, we get one of two possibilities : Conceal carry as a dead letter, OR open carry allowed everywhere conceal carry is legal today. Which one sounds more likely to you?

Have you read "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross? the novel is primarily about the growth of gun control in America, but there is a sidestory of the Warsaw Ghetto and how just a few guns allowed people to tie up a lot of Nazi military resources. In the novel, one of the Jewish partisans survives and comes to America. He plays a small but important part in the main plot. At verious points, he hears people scoff about the need for guns in general, or the value of a single handgun. It is made very clear that Jews, above all other people, should value the capability of self-defense.

I watch F & F regularly. Steve, Brian and Gretchen are very conservative. She's from Minnesota and this AM’s interview with the gentleman that had the gun on him was breaking news to them and I'll bet to most involved. I thought she set him up superbly for the home run “I go everywhere with it”. You don't live in MN or my state of WI without knowing that people have guns. I was delighted when she asked if he was prepared to USE his gun and he said YES.

Some of this on FR is like watching the GOP take down their own. So, IMHO stop knocking those that lean our way and go after those in the media that are blatantly blaming Right Wing talk shows, Glenn Beck, etc. THAT’s our enemy, NOT Gretchen, Steve and Brian.

I ask you, would you have seen perky Katie ask those questions? Not in this lifetime! Get YOUR heads around what is going on here. This was a lone mentally ill young man who gave 100 pre-disaster warning signs for months. It is known that the Pima Cty Sherriff’s dept. had gone TO this shooter's house when the college tossed him overboard. It seems to me that The sherriff’s disgusting rhetoric this weekend was to shift the blame (CYA) from HIS fellows missing the disaster waiting to happen, in order to blame Palin, Beck etc. Get with it folks. Don't take down OUR side! I'd take Gretchen, Steve and Brian ANY day over anything else on in the AM! Take THAT to the bank.

Dear Gretchen:

I was in Walgreen’s last Friday with two concealed weapons and Mrs. Mad had one also. The Manager knows us and knows we carry in his store. He is always very glad to see us and tells me that it is a comfort knowing we are they to deal with any problem.

Now Gretchen, I am pretty sure you do not go to Walgreen's without your make-up bag. Isn't that just being prepared?

He arrived at the scene noticing a man holding a weapon. Joseph told him to ‘drop it’ while he (Joe) had his hand on his readied firearm. The guy did drop it but... that was the guy who was holding the psycho’s gun after it was commandeered from him. Some people then yelled to Joseph ‘no, it’s the other guy on the ground!’ Joseph immediately turned his attention to the shooter and assisted the restraining of him.

This shows that Joseph is a responsible carrier. He didn’t just run into the crowd poppin’ caps into anyone with a gun. The rest of the country needs to understand that THIS IS WHAT CCW IS ALL ABOUT!

Gretchen's job is not to go on TV and say stuff like "Gee, Joe, it sure was a good thing you were packin' while you went to Walgreen's." If that's what folks expect they're just expecting too much.

Gretchen's job is to make conversation happen by axing questions. A declarative statement (Golly Joe, it sure is a good thing...) doesn't make conversation happen, but a fair question does. That's why she axed (a little ebonics there just to be inclusive) him about his practice of carrying everywhere. I heard the question and I didn't hear her inflect any sort of opinion or sarcasm; I just heard her ax a straight question knowing she was about to get a straight answer. And she did, didn't she?

That was just her way of putting the guy in position to say what it was that he was there to say.

How else is the guy going to answer a (abstract idea coming up, let's put on our thinking hats) QUESTION from the nice lady on TV?

(Whom I contend, again, just might have her own "Miss America 1988" custom engraved Smith model 640, loaded with Speer 135 grain "short barrel" .38 specials in her purse right there on the set with her.)
