Glenn Beck to Sarah Palin: An ‘attempt on you could bring the Republic down’

In the wake of Saturday’s Tucson, Ariz., shooting that left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition, six dead and more than a dozen injured, former Alaska gov. Sarah Palin reached out to Fox’s Glenn Beck via e-mail.

“Sarah, as you know, peace is always the answer. I know you are felling the same heat, if not much more on this,” Beck wrote Palin in an e-mail, which he read on-air during his radio program Monday.

“I want you to know you have my full support,” Beck told Palin. “You are always in my thoughts and prayers.”

Concerned for her safety,  Beck urged Palin to protect herself and invest in more security because an “attempt on you could bring the Republic down.”

“There are nutjobs on all sides,” Beck said. “Tomorrow I am issuing a challenge to reject all violence. If people really believe Americans can become some version of al Qaeda, I will not stand in the shadows as too many overseas did after 9/11. Terror is terror. I don’t care if it’s for Allah or for your party, you are not a freedom fighter, but a killer. There is a difference between a hard-fought political battle and violence … It’s time for politics to stop and sanity to begin.”

Palin responded, “I hate violence. I hate war. Our children will not have peace if politicos just capitalize on this to succeed in portraying anyone as inciting terror and violence. Thanks for all you do to send the message of truth and love and God as the answer.”

Beck went on to say a few brief words about Giffords, who he had talked about on his show once before.

“I used her as an example of someone with some political courage,” Beck said.

Since Saturday’s massacre, both Beck and Palin have been criticized by dozens of pundits and bloggers. Palin has been accused of inspiring the incident for creating a map during elections targeting districts of several liberal lawmakers, including Giffords’s district, with the cross hairs of a rifle scope and instructing her followers, “Don’t retreat, reload.”

That’s a good question. I wonder if we could get through it without violence. Sarah Palin is beloved by conservatives. Her entry into the national political arena gave us hope that we will see another Ronald Reagan in our time. (This time in a skirt?)

Speaking for myself only, in the past two years, the far left has driven me to the edge numerous times. I’ve been ready to head to D.C. to remove them from office time and again. As a Texan, I have far less patience for their horsesh*t than most. I feel obligated to my children to preserve our legacy of individual freedoms. And if I have to do that by force, well, so be it.

Since the attempted assassination of President Reagan, the far left has advanced into our territory. They continue to take ground, continue to insert the government into our business in the name of social justice. I believe we have gotten to the point that an attempt on Sarah Palin would provoke a response.

Sometimes one must draw a line and stand firm. The Founders knew it. They drew a line. Where is our line?

I agree with your statement. I can’t stand to listen to him for more than a few minutes if ever. We are home for a snow day today and had the radio on. He really shouldn’t have made that statement. The melodrama he spouts we can do without.

It really isn’t about replacing one ideology with another, at least not for me. It’s about drawing a line in the sand. We don’t have billionares sinking money into projects to put conservatives in key elected offices. The left does. They take and take and take, usually by fraud. I’m tired of giving ground to them.

The ultimate insanity! The left have closed themselves up in cities with no food and no guns.

The right controls all of the food, all of the fuel, most of the water, and virtually all of the guns and the knowledge to use them.

Bad situation to initiate hostilities!

Funny how God fights and wins the battles for the righteous without us having to lift a finger, eh?

3 days without the products of the right, and the left will start eating itself. 2 weeks later, the planet is quiet, and the 37% of the population that thinks Obama is doing a great job are in need of mass eulogies.

Perhaps, but we’re still in the time of being disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right ourselves by altering and abolishing those forms to which we are accustomed.

I reject that premise. It has often been noted that for "Evil to triumph, all that is necessary is for good men to do nothing". I paraphrase of course, but the idea stands firm. Retaliatory force is NECESSARY. The distinction must be made clear. We do not attack, but by all the Gods we hold holy we MUST fight BACK.

Further, our own Founding Fathers believed in retaliatory VIOLENCE as a means of final redress.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? We are already at war. A war of threads being tied around us with each passing year. No one of which would be worth "taking up arms" against. Taken together, they are choking the life out of us and we do NOTHING to stop it. Nor will we as we abhor violence.

What we are seeing now is an "end game" of the Leftist ideology. As both sides radicalize more and more, the fringe elements will start popping off like evil little fireworks. More so from the Left side of the spectrum as their ideology is predicated upon a mental instability. Being nuts to start with puts you closer to that "tipping point". As the government attempts to clamp down, the abuses people put up with will be multiplied adding to more and more people going off.

We could stop it all now. We don't have the willpower. Not collectively. The FedGov needs to be shut down, rebuilt on the firm footing of the Constitution, and all of the decades of judicial and legislative trickery used to circumvent it done away with. Only then will all of the "ills" of our society find their respective "cures".

As it is, I don't see this ending well for any of us.

I preface this by the following. I'm not a real big Beck fan. I don't think Palin should be president either, although she bears no blame at all for this.

Now that's said, I happen to agree 100% with Beck on this. If Palin is attacked, there could very well be Bleeding Kansas pt two.

With that, it's time for me to get a couple of standard magazines and some new rifles.

I suppose you’re ignoring the billionaire conservatives sinking money into putting themselves into office (and failing)? And the various dozens of PACs, churches, etc. that make enormous donations to campaigns and various other political causes?

Both sides of the aisle are bought and sold by special interests. To pretend otherwise is to bury your head in the sand.

Beck is your basic weiner boy. Doubt he can protect his own family. I get sick of his constantly whinning about the possibility of violent overthrow. If it's necessary, we are lucky enough to have that choice. Palin, on the other hand....

I've been saying the same for a while. When ever it is he will be leaving office, he will jump on a plane like Idi Amin or Baby Doc and spend the rest of his life somewhere in Europe. He has NO plans to stay in America. Why should he?

Your response is typical of the left. If you believe "both sides" (I assume this includes Tea Party members and Conservatives) are bought and sold, you are blind to the truth. Conservatives desire very limited government - we want to be left alone and leave others alone. Very few in government at all levels is truly conservative. This is a long term struggle to turn our Republic towards Liberty.

RINOs and the left are forever growing government and helping special interests. I think you need to be more precise in your response. The left is evil in their intentions and the RINOs are contemptible.

As you said, very few politicians are conservative. Those that are seem to forget all about their beliefs when dollar signs, fake breasts, and plane tickets are waved beneath their noses.

When I said “both sides of the aisle,” I of course meant both Democrats and Republicans. The likelihood of either one being a conservative is quite low.
