Police have just released this mugshot to RadarOnline.com... showing Arizona shooting suspect Jared Lee Loughner smirking just moments after he was taken into custody.
The alleged murderer is accused of gunning down 20 people - including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords - in a supermarket parking lot this weekend.
And this disturbing mugshot, taken shortly after police stopped his rampage, will leave the American public with chills.
With his shaved head, crazy looking eyes and smug grin, Loughner looks like a mad man.
The booking photo was obtained the same day he appeared in court for the first time accused of killing six people and injuring 14 others in the crazed attack last Saturday.
He entered the Arizona courtroom in shackles and wearing a tan prison uniform. CNN reported his eyes were "darting back and forth" but he spoke in a "strong voice" when questioned by the judge.

Uncle Fester without the light bulb in his mouth.
The look of criminal insanity.
He looks more like 42 than 22. Wonder what the point of going hairless is? No eyebrows either.
Law enforcement there did not have him arraigned & a mug shot released until after this past weekend.
For some reason he reminds me of the leader of that cult “Heavens Gate”.
That’s because he is a madman. Believing he had any political grudge or any rational thought at all is ridiculous. He’s CRAZY.
Satan’s child.
I wondered about the lack of hair, too. Muslims shave their entire bodies before going on attack, so possibly he was influenced by this. Not that he was a Muslim, but simply that it might have been something his crazy mind picked up.
That’s because he is a madman. He is batsh-t crazy, probably has been for the last 5 years. It’s sad all the way around.
He looks like a scary freak.
The prison system could have shaved his head.
Too scary for words.
i don’t think they shave off your eyebrows though. They never revealed what he was yelling during the attack.
Freepers, do you see evidence of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on his lower lip and around his left eye?
One thing is certain. That face is the face of a leftist loony moonbat.
Why do most noteworthy American killers have either “Lee” or “Wayne” as part of their names?
I did hear he was yelling “ouch, Ow,” while he was pinned to the ground.
No joke, that is what I heard.
No Carville is just ugly
I’m sorry, but he is not ‘evil’. He is schizophrenic. I’m not excusing the crime, but to me it diminishes the term ‘evil’ to label him as such. Actually, to me those who should know better but nonetheless tried to make political points off this tragedy are acting in a way that is more disappointing about human nature than someone like this guy who has some huge neurochemical issues that prevent him from seeing the world as it is.
I object -- stereotyping and discrimination against "Wayne's"!

Not a mad man... a sociopath.. the first person to describe the type with uncanny accuracy was Theophrastus. Evil is as old as human nature - the man with no conscience.
Did anyone else think of Joe Pesci?
Jam a 60W in his mouth and hook him up to Ol’ Sparky. That’d complete the imagery.
Maybe he thinks he's an "Observer" from the FOX show Fringe?
most schizophrenics are not evil. This guy, whether he is schizophrenic or not is one Evil animal. Underneath that mental disorder, if he has one, is a black heart. Don't excuse him. Hang him.
That is the look of bloody satisfaction. He is not "criminally insane". He knew what he was doing was evil. He is pleased with himself for all the misery he inflicted on others.
I wondered about that too.
Yup. Anti-social personality disorder implies an awareness of right and wrong but with a conscious disregard for the rights of others and for the rules of society. The madman does not know what he is doing and has no control over his thoughts and actions. This is not Jared Loughner. I think a good case can be made he faked having a mental illness. There is no evidence he was a paranoid schizophrenic. He certainly was rational enough to buy a gun and plan a murder.
Are you an educated and trained psychiatrist who has examined him in depth?
If not you're just blowing talk out your a$$ with your talk of schizophrenia. That's your opinion so please stop parading it as fact.
I'm tired of all the people around here who are saying he's a schizo as if that excuses him. Especially those not having clue #1 about what they're talking about.
I'm a physician, and although my specialty is not psychiatry, I have treated enough patients with psychoses over the years to know it when I see it. Further, I spoke to a friend/colleague yesterday who is an expert who has treated mentally ill patients of all stripes for many, many years, and her opinion was that his presentation was most definitely psychotic.
I don't make blanket statements about anything clinical without some basis upon which to make it. I further didn't say he should be ‘excused’ for this crime. Although he undoubtedly exhibited psychotic features in his bizarre behavior over the past many months, it is unclear just how irrational he was, and in that sense I entirely agree with you that diagnosis and assessment will require a rigorous psychiatric evaluation.
My point was different. It was about use of the word ‘evil’. Hitler was by all reports a coldly rational human being who put into motion attempted genocide and who was responsible for the deaths of millions. Stalin stayed up at night signing death orders and was responsible for the deaths of probably 100s of millions. This is evil. Whereas it is evil and tragic that an innocent precious 9 year old child was killed, and the judge, and everyone else who suffered or died under this guys hand, to characterize him as ‘evil’ is way premature in my opinion.
Good point! LOL!
