Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld Tweeted this message today comparing Tucson's events and the mood around the JFK assassination:

"Joyce & I are praying for all those felled by evil in Tucson. We saw a similar rush to judgment w/o facts in Dallas in 1963."

Wasn't Rove's fan, but yes, Rove at least had more sense than most of the media at the time. Heck, he still has more sense than most of the media now.

WHAT KIND OF A RETARDED STATEMENT IS THAT?

In 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald WAS a Communist, and we strained so hard not to rush to judgment, that we spawned a billion conspiracy theories, rather than recognize that the MAIN SOURCE of incongruities from the Johnson administration is that the SOCIALIST in the White House didn’t want America to “rush to judgment” that a SOCIALIST killed Kennedy, when it really WAS a socialist.

But I still love some of the things Rummy says.
