Another member of Congress, Rep. Peter King (R) of New York, announced Tuesday that he plans to introduce legislation making it illegal to carry a firearm within 1,000 feet of certain government officials, such as lawmakers. Congressman King is chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and cochair of the Congressional Task Force on Illegal Guns.

And had the homosexual nutcase Loughner driven through the crowd in a Prius, would these same Commie Leftists be calling for a ban on hybrids? I think not.
Neither the First Amendment nor the Second are to blame for the shooting. One lone nutcase and apparently an incompetent county sheriff are.

Since then, clips such as those allegedly used by suspect Jared Loughner, which contained more than 30 rounds, have been available for purchase without restriction. To all GFW's - It is not a clip.

McCarthy’s bill is at least more rational than King’s.
Maybe we should instead make it a felony for any lawmaker to come within 1000 feet of an armed citizen. Then let Congress trash like King dance to stay out of our way!

Yet more gun control laws! All of the thousands of gun laws on the books have yet to remove a gun from a nut job or criminal.

Hopefully the republicans are not dumb enough to go along with this bill. It is staight out of the soviet union, germany in the 1930s, cuber in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and into the 2000s and N korea today, including the muslim countries. They claim guns, pistols kill...no need for human interaction with the weapons.

Whatever they try to pass MUST NOT HAVE ANY EXEMPTIONS!!!!
No LE exemptions, no Government exemptions, no military exemptions! Call your Congressmen and Senators and DEMAND this if they insist on passing something. Let them know we will NOT tolorate exemptions for themselves in a restrictive law!

Reactionaries.Exactly.
Smart businessmen, investors etc, are proactive. Our government is constantly reactive.
Perp's violent threats were made known to law enforcement, nothing was done, he went off, and now it's "those evil high-capacity magazines' fault."
