Benjamin Franklin, regarding the new Republic opined: When the people find that they can vote themselves money that will herald the end of the republic. His reference was to individual voters or voting blocs using government to enrich themselves directly. Given the limited powers of the then fledgling Federal Government, he did not envision the money go round that permeates and too frequently dominates Washington DC.
Liberals and their snarky hypocritical ilk controlled the agenda in DC for most years after Franklin Delano Roosevelts war. That control existed and was kept alive on a sea of Federal largesse and campaign money. It began when FDR became the first President to use the Federal government as a vast vote buying machine. Republicans were knocked back on their heels and then supported...

I have often wondered what the world would be like today and since, if FDR and the USA had not got into WWII. If Germany had taken all of Europe and destroyed maybe the Soviet Union. If Japan had taken most of the east. If the USA was just an Island all alone in the world. At some point I suspect that Germany would have grown large enough to come after us here. They would own the world’s oil. I suspect at some point maybe they and Japan would have had to square off to see which was the big dog on the planet. Who knows. It boggles the mind to really wonder just what the world would have been like.

Yep. My Daddy would have had to fought the Germans over here on our soil if he hadn’t fought them through Sicily, Italy and into Germany. My Daddy and thousands like him.
