LA Lawmaker Reintroduces "CA DREAM Act"
KMJ Now ^ | Jan. 12, 2011 | Margaret Carrero

One state lawmaker from the southland is taking another shot at helping undocumented California college students pay for their education.

Democratic Assemblyman Gil Cedillo of Los Angeles Tuesday re-introduced a state version of the federal "DREAM Act" which was shot down by Congress last month.

Cedillo's previous attempt to help illegal immigrant students obtain financial aid was vetoed three different times by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who cited the state's financial crisis as his reasoning.

If approved, the measure would give undocumented college students in the Golden State the opportunity to vie for Cal grants and other means of financial aid.

Should it pass, California would be only the third in the nation -- behind Texas and New mexico -- to offer undocumented students financial assistance.

How come these people cannot see Calif has projected $25.4 billion deficit, per http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/01/12/MN5P1H7JBS.DTL&tsp=1 They are making so many budject cuts and still they are trying to pass the dream act that would cause the state to lose revenue by offering in state tuition. Just asking how does Democratic Assemblyman Gil Cedillo think the state of Calif is in a position to spend money they do not have by helping undocumented California college students pay for their education. Some of this thinking is backwards.

Time to build a wall around California and require all those travelling from that state to provide identification upon entering another, whether they are driving, walking, flying, or tunneling.

2 bill Gil. An illegal aliens best friend in CA.

This and drivers licenses for illegals. Every year, like clockwork. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s successful this time.

FU Gil.

This on top of the fact that illegals only have to pay in-state fees - not out of state. Better take Cedillo’s cell phone away from him as well.

Well, according to Moonbeam and some of his illegal alien pandering cohorts, they want to make it so that the illegals actually get PREFERENCE over the legal Californians.

That’s just one of the “dirty little secrets” that are not being divulged.

At this rate, if my son doesn’t get an ROTC scholarship, he won’t stand a chance at attending college in this country.

They are going to call a special election to try to keep tax and fee increases in place in California, partly because our colleges are going under.

Here comes Cedillo to the rescue. LMAO

You couldn’t ask for the Democrats to do more to destroy themselves.

Jerry Brown will most certainly sign this bill if passed. We did not like Arnold but compared to the new governor he was a lot better than what we have now. For all his faults Arnold was a breath of fresh air compared to this guy.

There are ways for him to attend a college, perhaps not the ones he may have at first wanted. ROTC scholarships come in 2 and 4 year awards iirc. If he doesn’t make the 4 yr, he can always get is general ed credits and some major credits at a community college and pay for them by working part time, that is what my daughters are current doing. Then apply for a 2 yr. There are also other grants and scholarships available. Worst case are loans. Before I got my 2yr ROTC scholarship I was working as many as 4 different part time jobs and full time in the summer. Its do-able, so make sure you look into all the options.

How come we can’t have some sort of law that states that a law cannot be proposed over and over and over again? Isn’t this some sort of abuse?

I am amazed we do not already have this and Texas does!!Is Arnold is more conservative than Perry??

Speaking of Cedillo, this is the year CA issues drivers licenses to illegals. In previous years, it would always pass the legislature but Arnold would veto it. You can be d*mned sure that Moonbeam will sign it.
