Some FReepers are claiming that the Obama 2012 slogan is going to be "Together We Thrive", but the University of Arizona is taking credit for the t-shirts at the pep rally memorial service. Who knows? Here's the evidence from last night:

The university said it did the planning with minimal input from the White House. The school paid for the event, including $60,000 for 10,000 T-shirts bearing the words "Together We Thrive." The shirts were handed out for free. T-shirts. The money will not come student tuition, fees or tax dollars.

Are they all Thriving against Schizophrenic Gunmen? I’m confused by this catchy phrase and the supposed reasoning behind it...

So when someone asks how your day is going you can say...

“I’m thriving, I haven’t bumped into any Schizos”

The school paid for the event, but "The money will not come [from] student tuition, fees or tax dollars."

The school gets a percentage of it's funds from the state general fund.

Where do they get their money?

Must be from the tax payers.

UA students went to DC (hundreds of them) to protest the gov cutting funds to universities.

So Obama's little trust fund babies did this all themselves with "minimal input from the White House."

In other words, they did it with input from the White House.

Use presidential seal on podium, scream and yell when the One comes in, make some campaign t-shirts....hmmmm let's see...and oh yea, get Who's-yer-daddy a tee time.

I wonder what percentage of the the shirt money will be sent to Obama.

I am one of those who was [maybe] misguided into repeating the campaign slogan idea. I’ll wait to see if the University backs up their creation of this idea, or can explain what the slogan ‘Together we Thrive’ is supposed to mean.

This school is the perfect example of why we’re being very careful where our daughter goes to college. Pure socialism!

If the school spent over $60K for the event and it’s not coming out of tuition, fees, or taxes, how is it being paid for? Don’t know much about such financial bookkeeping, so maybe someone can explain to me how $60K+ can come out of petty cash.
