EXCLUSIVE: Univ. of Arizona Reveals Origin of Memorial T-Shirts
FoxNation.com ^ | Jan 13

Posted on 01/13/2011 4:07:44 PM PST by JesseWatters

Many Americans were startled to see University of Arizona students distributing t-shirts at the memorial service in Tucson yesterday. On the front of the shirts, "Together We Thrive" was printed, along with a trendy logo. University spokeswoman Jennifer Fitzenberger told FoxNation.com "it was our idea to do the t-shirts."

FoxNation.com spoke to representatives at University of Arizona BookStores who revealed the vendor they used...."Youth Monument," a Los Angeles-based company specializing in "the hottest" college brands. "I don't feel comfortable commenting on the story," said Nick Ventura when contacted by FoxNation.com. Ventura called himself "a partner" at Youth Movement. When asked if the University of Arizona was a regular client and if there was any contact with the White House or any political group he responded "no comment."

According to: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2656495/posts it’s not going to be paid with tuition, fees, or tax $$... but appears the U is paying for them somehow. Exactly how not disclosed.

Ok, I’ll pretend I’m a reporter. What would my next question to Jennifer be?

Jennifer, who paid the $60,000 to purchase these shirts?

Jennifer, you said these shirts would help people remember the ceremony. Isn’t it also true that this particular style of ‘momento’ shows up very well on television?

I wish I wuz smart enuf to bes a journalist.

They had stickers and bumper stickers printed as well. I saw folks walking around with them. They looked like typical college aged political ops. The student body president who spoke seemed to me to be a Democrat, but I could be wrong. I am making an assumption based on her friendliness with the intern who helped save Gabby’s life. I’m betting they worked on the local Obama campaign together in 2008. Campaigning is what they know how to do. They don’t know memorials or funerals or dignified events. Just parties.

...leftists debase everything...

Ain't that the truth!

I speculated on another thread that these shirts were sitting in a closet at an ACORN office, because creating so many thousands of T-shirts in three days over a weekend seemed to be a pretty tall task. I think the shirts were gonna be the next voter drive uniforms.

What university has $60,000 laying around for this type of thing?

If they wanted something that would be remembered in honor of the victims how about a scholarship fund in memory of the little girl that was killed? T-shirts? Give me a break.

Those shirts had nothing to do with the victims and everything to do with Obama and the dems. If it was about the victims their names would have been printed on it.

Exactly. Every university is desperate for ways to CUT the budget. If they HAD donated $60,000, only some kind of kindness for those who were killed or injured would have been reasonable.

To print that many T-shirts in that short amount of time raises many questions in itself. The shooting was on a Saturday and by Wednesday they had shirts? Who placed the order and when? Such a high volume of shirts in that short amount of time doesn’t quite add up in my mind.

Fitzenberger insisted the University made no money from the "Together We Thrive" t-shirts and they weren't for sale. "We took the idea to University of Arizona BookStores and they contracted it out with a vendor." Reports put the cost of the t-shirts at $60,000.

Who paid that $60,000? Was it the UA? If so, from what fund was it taken? Was there a donor for it? If so, who?

This story wouldn’t be that hard to get a handle on for an enterprising journalist in Tuscon. $60K is a tremendous amount of money. And, virtually all large, public universities have legal obligations that must satisfied when spending that kind of money. For instance, there might open bid requirements, or there might be minority vendor requirements, or there might be capital expenditure filings that all need to be satisfied before that kind of cash walks out the door.

Don’t believe me? Read your hometown newspaper’s legal section, and I PROMISE that you will find procurement notices for your local, public college for sums of materials, products and services valued WAY below $60K. Somebody paid for these tee-shirts, and if it truly was the university, then there will be a paper-trail a mile wide. If there isn’t, there will still be a paper-trail, but probably a little harder to find. 501c-3s still have to file detailed expense reports with the IRS.

The leech pic is exactly right. The slogan is something a parasite would say to its host, or a serial abuser to his victims, or a pimp to his workers, or a fascist goverment to business, or rats to their voter base.

"Together We Thrive" =

"Now listen to me, all of you. You are all condemned men. We keep you alive to serve this ship. So row well, and live."
