Washington Lawyer Seeks Revenge Against School Board Members

Aaron Titus, a Washington, D.C. lawyer, received a phone call at 4:33am on Wednesday. The automated call informed the lawyer that it was a snow day and schools would be open two hours late. It was a message Titus knew prior to sleeping that night.

The next day, Titus, angry at the invasion, decided to get even with the school board. The 31-year-old father arranged for an automated message of his own.

By researching a robocall company online, he taped a message and listed phone numbers to various school board members. One of the numbers was to the Superintendent, William R. Hite.

At 4:30am Thursday morning, phones began to ring. Titus said the message consisted of 29 seconds of automated mocking.

More specifically, he said, “This is a Prince George's County School District parent, calling to thank you for the robocall yesterday at 4:30 in the morning. I decided to return the favor.

"While I know the school district wanted to ensure I drop my child off two hours late on a snow day, I already knew that before I went to bed. I hope this call demonstrates why a 4:30 a.m. call does more to annoy than to inform.''

The message ended by saying, “Quit robocalling parents at 4:30 in the morning or at least allow us to opt out of these intrusive calls."

Out of the 19 phone numbers that were dialed, eight people picked up.

Now, on behalf of the early morning commute. Shortly after 9/11 we had the rails running at 5:00 AM because "W" was having lots of military men be brought to the Pentagon and around DC to various places to both plan and then to train for the attack on AlQaida in Afghanistan.

One morning I knew it was close to kick off when I went to the train at 5:00 AM and boarded 1 of 6 cars filled to the gunnels with midgets in blue suits.

My mind soared with the recognition that I was there with the very eagles of the sky, the world's most incredible fighting men ~ the pilots and their experienced commanders who were going to take every single fighter and fighter bomber and stealth craft right to the lair of the enemy and exterminate him.

The day of planning and training had come to an end.

That experience would have been missed if I'd been going in at a more reasonable 7:30 AM.

Your school district must not have an emergency notification system. odd. Believe it or not this is not "robo calling" to solicit your buck for a candidate or old car for charity....... is a way for schools to have an automated calling system lockdowns and school closings (remember Beslan? a lot of schools kicked up their plans after that horror) last minute updates to school schedules...cancelled events....etc etc etc

In ours, the emergency notification cards come home the first day of school and parents indicate the phone number(s) to be used for contact. Here's a chance for parents to have those emergency calls go to their ... cell phone.

I would venture a guess Mr Lawyer has the missus take care of filling out the school forms and such, all he needs to do is call the school office or go in there and change his emergency notification form ..but look how much time he spent instead getting some petty "revenge". He is a dick.

"PG county is a county in Maryland"

Yeah, I missed that part about PG county. Still, some tax-payer is paying for this AND, I wouldn't be surprised if the money for this capital expenditure did come from the federal tax-payer, through either the stimulus funds or some other federal education grant.

Dude - get a life. And I would guess - this lawyer would be the first to complain if somehow he missed this information and drived his sweet kids to a closed school...

Exactly how I felt when I heard him on Fox & Friends this morning.

It's a county so it gets ALL ITS MONEY from taxes ~ well, maybe some user fees on the side but we won't quibble.

Do you want them to call you perhaps ~ maybe that could be arranged.

I heard a story from the early days of programmable dialers. I
think it was from Wang Labs. They had just undergone a
contraction, i.e., layoffs, and one disgruntled programmer had
one of their devices call up the then-president's home phone
every fifteen minutes.

I have no idea if a message was played.

I met a guy that said he lived in an area with a state prison, and an
automated phone alert was being considered to phone
residents in the event of an escape.

Get you to at least check your doors and windows, perhaps call the
police if somebody wants you to open the door at 4:30AM...

You seem to have missed what was repeated, and made italic. Have over-running emotions caused your reading comprehension to falter?
