Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) — one of President Obama's most strident critics — praised the president's speech in Arizona at a memorial service for the victims of the Tucson shooting spree.
The Arizona senator and Obama's 2008 opponent penned an op-ed in the Washington Post, saying Obama "comforted and inspired the country" by calling for greater civility in the nation's political discourse.
"I disagree with many of the president's policies, but I believe he is a patriot sincerely intent on using his time in office to advance our country's cause," McCain wrote. "I reject accusations that his policies and beliefs make him unworthy to lead America or opposed to its founding ideals. And I reject accusations that Americans who vigorously oppose his policies are less intelligent, compassionate or just than those who support them."

McCain is just trying to diminish support for zero amongst democrats.
McCain did enough damage by running against Obama in the presidential election. He needs to shut up and stop helping.
McCain cut short his congressional delegation trip to South America to attend the ceremony.Now there's a motive. Maybe there's a South American connection to the shooter. Anybody looking into that?

Reading this rekindles my anger at Palin for her over-the-top praising of this leftist nimrod during his primary. She had to endorse him, yes... but she didn’t have to call him a conservative. I’ve long since forgiven and forgotten all that... but reading this brings it back to mind.
McCain appears to enjoy the scraps from Longshank’s table.
But he's sincerely intent on advancing the country's cause with many policies you disagree with... huh??
And it is upon whether Sarah allows lord McCain to step up into her chariot as to her political success or flop.
Just one more step for Juan away from his harsh campaign year rhetoric, now that he’s hoodwinked his way to another six years in the Senate. Here we see the old Juan, back to supporting comity and harmony among the various political factions, and getting ready to stab conservatives in the back at the next opportunity.
Further proof McCain is as smart as his daughter.
