An assistant manager at McDonald's was fired after allowing Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson to use the bathroom while the restaurant was closed.

While working the late-night drive-thru shift at 3 a.m., a female employee encountered a man standing outside the window who asked to come inside and use the restroom. After a little while, she realized it was the popular Minnesota Vikings star and opened the door for him to come inside and use the facilities. (The seating area at the restaurant is normally closed during the late-night hours.)

Meat crap actually DOES describe Arby’s. They used to have great sandwiches, but that meatlike oblong thing they cut into slices ISN’T a roast beef sandwich.

What if it had been Kobe Bryant? Or Ben Rothlisberger?

Sad story. Letting someone go to the bathroom is a firing offense? No good deed goes unpunished

It's a legitimate security issue. After college, I had a short stint in restaurant management. Our company had a rule about the back door; it was never to be opened after 6:00 PM, regardless of whether it was still light outside, and regardless of how much trash was piled up. Only two reasons were acceptable for opening it; an emergency evacuation or by order of the police. The door was tagged with a zip tie initialed by the day shift manager and he applied it before he left at 6:00.

A rule like that saves lives and prevents tons of theft.

Years ago when my son was owner/manager of a restraurant, company policy said he could not allow his workers to take food home at closing -since it could not go back in the frige from the salad bar- it had to be thrown out. He managed to work it so he could and did send that good food home to be used-

He also had some working for him that nobody else would hire- he laid it on on the line what he would not tolerate, and those he hired, with one exception were good workers.

Sometimes it is good to figure out how to do the right thing instead of the expected.

An assistant manager “forbidden” to alter normal procedures under any circumstances, even a highly unusual one?
Weird.
I don't know many professional sportsmen, but if I were in her shoes, and a celebrity I did recognize such as Trace Adkins or Toby Keith needed to “use the facilities”, I would have done the same thing.
No, I wouldn't normally bend the rules, and I doubt she does either.
Glad she got her job back.

And no, I wouldn't expect anyone to bend the rules for me under similar circumstances, since I am not famous.

What is it about all these athletes that you find them hanging around from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. all the time? Nearly all the problems we have had with Viking/Gopher athletes have come when they are night-crawling around in the early morning hours.

Don’t these people keep regular hours like most folks?

I know a guy who got fired from Arby's for giving the meat crap ends to homeless people instead of making sure they were in the dumpster.

Whatever you think of the policy, it was created to limit liability. Blame gov't and culture of litigation.

I’m sort of impressed an NFL player asked to use the bathroom and didn’t just bless the drive-thru.

I don’t know that it was a firing offence, depends on what the employer’s rules were. I notice she got her job back by going to the press. I don’t think she’ll make this mistake again.

Maybe Peterson will help get her a job with the Vikings.

A buddy of mine who worked at Arbys in the early 80’s once told me the ‘roast beef’ was actually marinated ham.

I have no idea though, There isn’t an Arbys around my house anywhere anymore.

Actually if it was ham back in the 80’s i cannot see how they could get away with it now.
Not with all of the muzzies and lawyers running around nowadays.

Yep- I can see why the policy on not opening doors.

I personally would never even work the late shift in a convenience store or fast food store in our small town,, and we are relatively quiet.
