You know you’re doing something right when two New York Times columnists, Gail Collins and Nicholas Kristof, attack your research on the same day. Kristof followed up on criticism leveled earlier in the week by others writing for The Times. I must have said something substantial enough to warrant this attention. Let us check the facts.

Mr. Lott I salute you Sir! As always a careful analysis of current events and an enlightening discussion of what, on one hand, the media says as opposed to your presentation of the facts.
It would be interesting to conduct a scientific study on the sort of urban bubble that Nicolas Kristof & his ilk inhabit where guns are NEVER needed.
i would like to see a conceal/carry law in every state of the union. The thought of hand-guns seems to scare the bejesus out of the loud-mouth leftists. This is a good thing. Perhaps their unfounded fear will, however, be enough to teach them the social skills and manners that their parents never did.
Regarding Obama, guns, and all standard-capacity magazines:

It would surprise me to see the New York Times accurately report on John Lott's excellent work. On certain subjects, the Times is hardwired to lie.
I wonder if there is a practical way to reduce the number of firearms permits issued to paranoid schizophrenics who do not have a criminal record.
These people who are soooo worried about all the guns and folks carrying concealed are welcome to stay out of concealed-carry states. At least, they are welcome to stay out of Texas, and I doubt other gun-friendly places want them either!

Who cares what they write?
Keeping a list of objects, people and groups the government and the media have told us caused this mass murder. Just had to add a couple more.

8. Independent voters.
9. People that display American flags.

As most elite liberal idiots live in large blue cities such as NYC and DC, so far as they are concerned most of the “citizens” they see sure as hell aren’t law abiding. That is their frame of reference, it is racist and proves they don’t trust their base of support.

No, not exactly.
Gail Collins is worried that LIBERALS carrying concealed handguns can't be trusted.
Its a known 'fact'(1) that Liberals have no self control, So when firearms are in the equation they project what they and their Lib buddies would do if a gun was handy when they got mad.
It's ironic but back in the day when 'Big Cities' were actually big - Detroit, Cincy, Philly, Chicago, etc(2) - there were more guns around than today. Almost every house had a shotgun and every 'kid' a rifle (yes, even in Chicago). And you could freely handle them at the local Sears and Montgomery Wards, or at a Hardware Store out in 'the sticks'. Heck when I was about 14 I could go to the local Sporting Goods Store and buy .22LR ammo - it cost about $.25 for a box of 50. No questions asked.
And the odd thing is we didn't go around shooting each other (How can that be NYT?). We settled 'it' with our fists, nobody went home to grab a gun. And after the fight was over, 'it' was settled.
(1) Look it up NYT 
(2) NYC excluded due to the purely political 'Sullivan Act'.
