Attorney argues for GI's release in Wikileaks case

HAGERSTOWN, Md.—An Army private suspected of passing hundreds of thousands of classified U.S. documents to the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks is jailed under harsh conditions and should be released, his lawyer said.

Meanwhile, the United Nations' anti-torture chief said Friday that he has asked the U.S. State Department to investigate Pfc. Bradley E. Manning's treatment at a Marine Corps brig in Quantico, Va.

A spokesman at the Marine Corps base said he doesn't expect any changes in the maximum-security, injury-prevention conditions under which Manning has been held since he was brought there July 29 from a detention facility in Kuwait. Military officials say the rules, which include confinement 23 hours a day in a single-bed cell, keep Manning safe and secure.

His civilian attorney, David Coombs of Fall River, Mass., said in a blog post that he filed a request to military officials on Thursday seeking Manning's release.

"This request is based upon the fact that the confinement conditions currently being endured by Pfc. Manning are more rigorous than necessary to guarantee his presence at trial, and that the concerns raised by the government at the time of pretrial confinement are no longer applicable," Coombs wrote.

Liberals, UN demand traitor be released; open investigation into Manning's "harsh treatment and torture." Ugh.

Maning needs to have a trial by a jury of his peers.

Followed by a first class hanging.

This is such a joke. Anyone who has ever been inside the brig at Quantico is laughing uncontrollably right now. It's spotless, unlike virtually ever other civilian prison in the country, and in the world. There's no commotion and there's absolutely no confinee on confinee violence. The Marines know how to run a prison.

I've got an idea, it might be time for a prison-appreciation tour for young Pvt. Manning. I suggest sending him to Lompoc - not even a high security prison - for a few weeks, and then ask him if he wants to stay there or return to Quantico.

Hanging is a little harsh. Perhaps lining him up on a wall and let the firing squad do the deed. //sarc//

Amazing how the MSM can write an entire article about the most important spy/traitor in recent history, and avoid mentioning that he's homosexual, and his homosexuality led directly to the security breach.

It's like reporting on 9/11 without using the word "Muslim".

Which I think they achieved as well.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

“There’s no commotion and there’s absolutely no confinee on confinee violence.”

It also helps that the inmates are Marines;)

Point taken. But, the Brig at Quantico is a regional military detention center. It's inter-service. Yes, the majority are probably marines, but many aren't. At times, there are even federal civilian prisoners housed there (temporarily).

I wonder what would happen if he were to be out in the streets and accessable by the general public?

I read an article on Quantico years ago. They will put a troublesome
inmate on bread and water for up to two weeks at a time.

And yet, in civilian prisons, the lawyers whine when their troublesome,
incarcerated client gets put on prison loaf for a week.

‘In jail in harse conditions”

IMO, he should be hanged & buried under anonymous conditions. Never to be found again.

This little queer traitor needs to stay in the brig until he is convicted and executed for treason.
