Conservative group pushes Pence to run
MSNBC ^ | 1/17/11 | Domenico Montenero

Domenico Montanaro writes: A group of conservatives are pushing Indiana Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) to run for president in 2012.

America's President Committee kicks off today with a signature drive to get Pence, who's popular with social conservatives, to launch a 2012 White House bid.

Behind the group are former Kansas Congressman Jim Ryun and is coordinated by Ralph Benko, a former Reagan deputy counsel, who worked with the Bush administration's White House Office of Faith-based and Community Initiatives.

“Throughout his distinguished career, Mike Pence has demonstrated the ability to enthusiastically advance the cause of conservatives and constitutional, limited government and for that reason I am encouraging him to get in the race,” Mr. Ryun said in a press release.

I’m a Palin supporter but I would not be adverse to Mike Pence running for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. He’s a good man. Besides, Sarah Palin may not choose to run for the nomination if a solid Christian conservative such as Pence runs, so it could be a win-win. Also, Pence is not the liberals choice so that makes him especially attractive to conservatives. Can he win? Not sure - too many variables - but I think he would have a good shot at it.

Is that so? You see my posts & threads praising Romney? Huckabee? Daniels? Tpaw? Newt? Perry? Huntsman? Ron Paul? Jeb? Christie? Johnson? Thune? Ryan? Gregg? Jindal?

That's a pretty long list of folks that I wouldn't lift a finger to support, with or without Palin in the race. What you really meant is that I would support the most conservative candidates running, as I always do. The only ones still making noise about potentially running are Pence, Cain, Bachmann, and DeMint, and perhaps Bolton (though he needs to tell us about his domestic policies before I would support him).

But go ahead and carry on with your "Anybody But Palin" fantasies if you wish.

I was around for Reagan and Palin is Reagan in High Heels! She is better looking, but Reagan was not in his prime.

Palin is quicker in getting her words out than any politician in the last 50 years, this is a sign she says what she believes! Finally, someone who tells the Truth!

Some people seems to think a woman can’t run this country, that’s another reason why she needs to be the first woman President!

She would do a lot to hurt the men having sex with men lifestyle, Normal would be back in again! That’s probably the biggest reason that the anti Palin freepers keeping spurring out all the same negatives Reagan lived with, yes, our token liberal democrat Trolls and with their sick lifestyle!

Pence is cool, and should he decide to enter the primaries, he would be one of my top picks. A good choice by pissant.

You keep lying. Have I ever hinted I’d push Huck/Mitt/Tpaw/Daniels/Santorum/Newt/Perry/Trump/Bloomberg/Rudy/Gregg/Thune/Christie/Johnson/Paul/Huntsman over Palin?

it is NOT “anybody but Palin”. It IS “A Conservative, not Palin”

Order For Palin To Lose, Someone Must Beat Her (To the PDS Chorus: Put up or Shup up)
2/21/2010 | Brices Crossroads

For a number of weeks now, I have noticed here on Free Republic an increase in the number of posters who say that former Governor Sarah Palin is unelectable. he reasons proffered are usually two fold: First, her resignation as Governor of Alaska forever brands her as a quitter, and the American people will never elect a quitter. Second, she has been so damaged by the hostile MainStream Media, and will be further damaged in another campaign that she can never defeat Barack Obama in a general election. Leaving aside the criticisms of her for the moment (inasmuch as they have been addressed and debated in numerous other posts), I maintain that the 2012 election will be a referendum on Barack Obama. If he has succeeded, he will likely be returned to office. If, on the other hand, he has failed, he will be defeated, in effect fired by the American people. The GOP nominee, whoever that is, will in all probability become the 45th President of the United States. In a word, the GOP nomination will be worth having.

Which begs the question, and I address it specifically to those posters among you who have been quick to point out your perception of Palin’s flaws, including and especially her alleged “unelectability”: name the potential candidate(s) you believe a) would be a better President; and b) have the political skills and appeal to defeat her in a GOP primary. As the saying goes, you cannot beat something with nothing.
