Jesse is talking about MLK Jr. When he was young, he wasn't violent, but he had anger, and because of that he couldn't see what was wrong with hating whites, smoking pot, etc.

But it's a spiritual battle. (as an aside, he is wondering out loud why they call MLK Doctor instead of preacher...which he knows is to make him feel more important).

Rev King had "vision". But today leaders have no vision. They don't know what it is.
