Obama Wants to Shed Rules That Hurt Job Growth

President Barack Obama Tuesday ordered a government-wide review of regulations with the goal of eliminating those that hurt job creation and make the U.S. economy less competitive.

Photo by : Pete Souza President Barack Obama --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obama took action after unveiling his plan in an op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal in which he said some rules have placed "unreasonable burdens on business — burdens that have stifled innovation and have had a chilling effect on growth and jobs."

The executive order marked Obama's latest move to repair relations with U.S. business, which were frayed amid bitter debate over his overhauls of Wall Street regulations and healthcare that some business leaders said would stymie corporate America.

Obama has struck a more business-friendly tone since his Democrats lost the U.S. House of Representatives and saw their Senate majority reduced in November congressional elections widely seen as a verdict on his handling of the stumbling economy and persistently high unemployment.

It was not immediately clear, however, how far-reaching Obama's new regulatory strategy would be in changing the way the federal government operates.

Despite Obama's promise, the administration's legislative victories are producing dozens of new regulations, on everything from credit card fees to health insurance premium increases, to the annoyance of the business community.

Obama said he would require that in the future, government agencies "ensure that regulations protect our safety, health and environment while promoting economic growth."

He also issued a memorandum to all executive agencies calling for "more transparency and accountability in regulatory compliance" and a second one on the need to "reduce burdens on small businesses whenever possible," the White House said.

Business leaders say government regulations, including those being written for the healthcare and financial reform, have hurt job creation at a time of nearly double-digit unemployment.

"It's a review that will help bring order to regulations that have become a patchwork of overlapping rules, the result of tinkering by administrations and legislators of both parties and the influence of special interests in Washington over decades," Obama wrote.

The president, noting that small businesses create most new jobs in the economy, also said he would direct the government to make a greater effort to reduce the burden regulations place on them.

While vowing to eliminate rules that are "not worth the cost, or that are just plain dumb," the president said his administration would not shy away

oops... just noticed this gem:

"[This] executive order marked Obama's latest move "

He might SAY he is using exectuive order to eliminate job killing laws but his lips are moving so he must be lying. He wants to make new law to override old law, by exectuive order.

So he is going to executive order any laws he doesnt agree with - rather than go through that bothersome congress thingy.

The official line from the Obama administration was that the revolt of 2010 was pretty much meaningless. I think this shows his advisors know the truth, and that he’d better follow the will of the people unless he wants to be a one-termer.

Let me guess -

Yet another ‘Blue Ribbon Panel’ consisting of currently out-of-work Lefties, plus a few (also out-of-work) RINOs — which will spend 6-months-to-a-year and millions of dollars, and which may or may not issue a report that everybody will take issue with, and then be quietly circular-filed....

I think I’ve seen this movie before.....

Start by anything that drives the cost of energy up.

Either electric or fuel. It's one of the 4 major inputs into the economy.
Lower fuel costs, and you lower food costs.
Lower electricity costs and you lower manufacturing costs.
Lower electricity costs and consumers instantly have more money in their pockets.
Lower electricity costs and alternatives to fuel become more viable.

The audacity to do this a couple of days after his own Democrat Senators in WV are complaining about the EPA shutting down coal mines that have already been approved in the permitting process.

Now we do a review after all these jobs are lost. And still no drilling in parts of the Gulf, costing jobs.

This is nothing but more smoke and mirrors so the media can say “he is really trying hard”.

Increase job growth would require companies locally... Which also requires investment capital to fund them.

To get there, reduce taxes on everyone, corporations and individuals alike, and introduce strict tariff policies on goods coming from countries with average yearly salary under some number (like $5k... some percentage of the average American salary)

This will allow capital to build and give enough ‘room’ for local corporations to compete

“This is nothing but more smoke and mirrors so the media can say “he is really trying hard”.”

Worse than that it is ‘cover’ for gouging businesses and special interest groups for donations.
The conclusions of the reviews will depend on donations.
This happens often anyway but Obama is really going to accelerate it- mainly because of the loss of the House where most of this kind of fundraising traditionally happens.

Take a minute and read a great and prophetic quote.

The mania for giving the Government power to meddle with the private affairs of cities or citizens is likely to cause endless trouble, through the rivalry of schools and creeds that are anxious to obtain official recognition, and there is great danger that our people will lose our independence of thought and action which is the cause of much of our greatness, and sink into the helplessness of the Frenchman or German who expects his government to feed him when hungry, clothe him when naked, to prescribe when his child may be born and when he may die, and, in time, to regulate every act of humanity from the cradle to the tomb, including the manner in which he may seek future admission to paradise ~ Mark Twain

By "Executive Order".....this has become a Monarchy, where the Congress just sets up smokescreens/arguments, and The Messiah rules by fiat.

Abuse of Executive Orders by this assclown has been from day one.....when he sealed ALL records that would expose his Citizenship, passport trails, lead to who funded his placement in the White House, etc., to the handouts to Unions and appointment of un-Constitutional/non-vetted Czar positions for all his cronies.

There are so many government-dependent people in the USA today that we can't vote all the communist bastards out for decades.
