Freedom of speech is one of the hallmarks of a civilized society. Mr. Mcalpines views were homophobic, but the fact that he was treated as a criminal for expressing them, shocked me Mr. Mcalpine was neither aggressive, threatening nor intimidating. He did not incite violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) people
Tatchell contrasted this with the speeches of Islamic extremists who have advocated killing gay people and unchaste women and have heaped hatred and abuse on Jews and Hindus. Tatchell relates that when he organized a counter-protest at one rally of nearly 6000 Islamic extremists, he and the five members of his group were arrested, but only after they were threatened with death by the Muslims at the rally.
Ping!
How much you want to bet that there are gay-only and Muslim-only B&B’s in that country?
In a way I don’t blame them. Maybe they’re the normal kind of gay people but what if they’re the kind that’re up to all kinds of mischief? Up til all hours of the night inviting “friends” over. To my little Bed & Breakfast? I’ll take the fine. It’s probably cheaper!
... as opposed to unnatural marriages?
>> It is illegal in Britain for guesthouse keepers to refuse to allow two homosexual men to share a bed in their homes
What the hell happened to keeping the damn govt out of the bedroom?
They’re lucky they weren’t fined fifteen MILLION euros. Here it would be that much by the time the lawyers got through with them.
The “elites” have determined that we shall not be Christians.
We are going to have to bring them down.
its their house end of story.
what would jesus do?
I know this is England, but what ever happened to the right to refuse service? Doesn’t England have that? The U.S. still does, right?
How sad.
Best post of the thread. Maybe the week.
The whole reason behind “gay rights” is to criminalize Christianity.
If this weren’t a possibility, you wouldn’t hear a peep out of the homosexuals about anything.
Burn the bedsheets.
I just wonder how a Muslim Bed and Breakfast would have re-acted? Would have been treated in court? With all the pandering that is done in the name of PC, perhaps their wishes for THEIR OWN HOME would have been honored.
So, how would they rule if a muslim couple turned down a gay couple.
UK? You deserve what you get.
its their house end of story.
It is their business, true. Now if they don’t take one red cent through tax credits or anytime of tax relief than turning them away is not the business of the government, but once businesses start getting the bennies from the government than the government feels they have every right to intervene in anything. That is why I ALWAYS warn the Homeschooler folks to watch what you wish for with regards to getting a 1000 dollar or more tax credit for buying books supplies or whatever. It may be just better to pay the taxes.
