This story is dumb anyway. Why didn’t just one guy go in and pay for the room. Or better yet there are tons of hotels in London that don’t give a crap about gays staying at their hotels. I wonder when they called for the room if the gays said anything about staying in the same room. I bet the owners never said that they were Christian over the phone either. This could have been settled over the phone during registration.
There is a difference between being sinful and being evil. The two “gentlemen” in question qualify in both categories. Using the law as a club to punish people for following their faith in their own home is something that even George Orwell never considered or perhaps rejected as too far fetched for fiction.
Personally, if these “gentlemen” had shown up at my B&B, and I had been aware of the disgusting shift in national law, I would still have turned them away. But I would have offered a difference reason, one that would have been true and not criminal. I would have told them that we had decided to close the B&B effective immediately and were not accepting any new lodgers but that their deposit, if any, would be cheerfully returned. Then I would actually have closed the place as soon as the remaining lodgers checked out, either permanently or until we re-evaluated the decision. I would not allow either tyrants or perverts to tell me what I must permit or may not permit in my own home.
That wasn't their goal. The point was to compel the owners to accept a fundamental violation of their religious beliefs. The objective was not to get a room but to exercise control over the owners of the B&B. From the article:

That’s easy - He would tell them that they were evildoers, that they should get away from Him, and that He never knew them. He would say that He gave them over to their shameful lusts because their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts became darkened. He would say that they have exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worship creation instead of the Creator.
