STORY

MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WSVN) -- A man has been arrested after, officials said, he caused a security scare at a South Florida airport.

On Jan. 11, Miami-Dade Police officers stopped Oluwole Aboyade in the Dolphin parking garage at MIA after he reportedly began taking pictures of sensitive areas at the airport.

According to a Miami-Dade Police report, an officer said he became alarmed when he saw Aboyade taking pictures of buildings, surveillance cameras, airport runways and restricted areas. When the police approached the Nigerian national, he said he would remain silent. The police report read, "Mr. Aboyade was observed walking through the terminal and parking garages taking pictures ... upon making contact ... he became very evasive."

"He was approached by several of our uniformed officers who were very alert in seeing what was going on in order to question him and find out exactly why he was there. While questioning him, a lot of things he refused to answer. He was very evasive. He did not want to give any answers whatsoever," Miami-Dade Police Detective Bobby Williams said. "A detective was summoned from that airport bureau there, responded and subsequently, Mr. Aboyade was arrested, because he could not dispel the detective's fear for the safety of people or property."

Police said, Aboyade was in the US illegally. The police report read, "Upon arrival at the station, it was learned that Mr. Aboyade had overstayed his work visa and was wanted by ICE."

WTG MPD. While I am not quite sure what the sensitive areas are in the public domain of public transportation, but, from the description of his activities, you guys nabbed a terrorist in process. I like it.

Kudos to those alerted! Kudos to those who responded! Kudos to those who acted!

Meantime, though, our grandma, our children, and we, continue to be molested by the TSA. Even our dogs are smarter, having an innate ability to disregard the non-relevant, to focus on what is relevant.

Did you see the clip? It did mention that he is going to have OTHER Federal Charges beyond his immigration status leveled.

I just watched it. Not a single charge for taking the pictures was mentioned.

I sat next to an African man in full African garb - like Obama when he visited the relatives. He pulled out a copy of a book written in Arabic, likely the Koran, and started whispering passages or prayers to himself with his eyes closed in the Atlanta airport. Didn’t make me feel comfortable.

Back in the 1970's when I was in High School, my English teacher told us to make a movie. I tried to film part of my movie in the Boston subway system. The officials saw me and shut me down right away. They made it very clear that if I were caught a second time, I'd be sorry.

That was a generation ago, back before Modern Liberalism dumbed everyone down to the point where no one thinks for themselves anymore, and anyone who mentally discriminates outwardly between good and bad behaviour is a racist. The judgement of others is now considered "the greater evil" over and above the crime or crimes the good misunderstood oppressed peoples of the world (aka "victims') may or may not be planning or actually committing. So years after dumbing down the municipal sheeple and sheepherders,Modern Liberalism has cops looking down on people who report illegal or suspicious activity. Much like the good ole Liberal Jihadi Mind Trick...Move along, you don't need to concern yourself with what the strangers in town (illegals?) are doing...you don't need to see their identification...these are not the droids you were looking for...move along...

After years of listening to both Obama and Obiwon, maybe someday people of this nation will rise up and ask, "Are we the Droids We've been looking for?"

“You cannot walk up to the fence line of a military base and start snapping pics of the base layout”

Well. . .that just made criminals out of all those tens of thousands of plane spotters. And heck, airshows and picture-taking. . .oh, and Google Maps and Street View?

Seriously, there is no restiction that I know of if you are on public property (or your own property) and take pictures of things in plain view.

Instead of arguing about it, just do like any good scientist would do and prove your theory if you are so intent on making your point. Do us a favor to verify your claims and give us the city and state of the local news affiliate for cross reference.

CORRECTION: I refer back to my original point. Go ahead and try it. We'll just stand aside and watch.

Have done, many times.

Perhaps we should ask the plane-spotters at Nellis AFB, NV, and the plane-spotters at Seymour-Johnson AFB, NC, or the plane-spotters at Davis Monthan AFB, and Luke AFB, AZ, et al, and ask the plane-spotters at any number of civilian airports. . .at most airports in the states there are lay-bys/pull-offs specifically used by the plane-spotters.

Maybe at first, but go ahead and test your theory. We’ll just stay here on the roof to see if you break your leg by jumping off, metaphorically speaking.

I’m sure you can walk up to any fence around a military installation and take a picture but if the MP’s see you, you will be stopped. At air shows, all of the sensitive stuff will have been secured or transported off the base to prevent any errant shutters.

As far as an airport, being they are now considered security zones, the observance of one snapping pictures from an obscure location like the corner of a parking garage at obviously secure things like surveillance camera locations will incite the response noted in the article. To prove their point, all it takes is to review the cameras contents as the days of film are virtually gone. The proof will be in the pudding.

Take pictures all the time. .today and for years. . .and for over 20-yrs on active duty around the world, on Air Force bases where I lived and worked, even took pictures while INSIDE the jet and flying said jet. Even took pictures last week in the airport and on the airliner on the way to the UK (and the stewardesses posed for me).

No issues in the airport or on the jet.

IF you hide the camera or go poking around in places not in plain view, that is another story, as that behavior reflects nefarious purposes and that is the difference.
