EPA to downgrade Dallas air quality to serious

HOUSTON — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency plans to downgrade Dallas' air quality from "moderate" to "serious" after the city failed to meet a 1997 pollution limit and new regulations the agency is considering could put the city even further behind.

The announcement the EPA planned to make Wednesday will force the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to submit a plan detailing how Dallas will meet federal guidelines by 2013. But, the EPA plans to unveil a more stringent ozone cap by July 31, making it even harder for Dallas to get in line.

Congress to downgrade EPA to extinct. Since all states have their own versions of the EPA, why do we need the one in DC?

The Texas AG should sue the EPA for selective enforcement. At the very least, make a federal judge kick the case out of the system. If it isn’t kicked out, discovery could be a very interesting thing for the general public to consume.

this reminds me of the “make work issue” of the lead in the houses built before 1970 that only certain contractors, after taking classes costing almost 500 dollars, and which is paid for many times for the “minority” contractors.... in order to give them work which other contractors cannot do. when was the last time an American died from eating lead????? lies, lies, and more obamanation regime lies...everytime I see the epa ad on TV of the orange juice pitcher filling up with orange paint, it makes me sick...those ads are paid for by us for obamanation make work for his protected species!

Amazing, you would think DC is at war with TX?

The 0bama regime clearly has Texas in its crosshairs and those aren't surveyor's symbols. Not only is 0bama's EPA (albeit an invention of Nixon) targeting Texas in particular but business in general.

I'm old enough to remember this from my ex-hometown of Pittsburgh (with Pitt's Cathedral of Learning visible):

You know what? That was the look of prosperity, full-employment (until the unions killed the mills), booming business (as the arsenal of the nation) and good times. While not every day was like this, quite a few were.

Although I'm certainly not advocating a smokey, smoggy Dallas like that shown above, the do-gooders and environmental wackos would do well to check with those of us from an older generation who are still alive, well and healthy in spite of the smell of prosperity!

I've pinged a few 'Burgers, some of whom may be old enough to get a bit nostalgic when they see the picture. :-)

I was born and raised in Dallas, but now live between Dallas and Fort Worth. I watch the local news each evening and when they show the ‘air pollution’ ratings, the only thing of significance is Ozone and the quality is shown as Good.

The EPA is trying its best to nail Texas on several issues. I believe the Gov. and State Legislature need to continue to contest these biased edicts issued by the EPA, and that the US House will pass bills defunding the corrupt EPA.

>>Evidently in many rural areas background readings during the summer months are often above 75 ppb.

Apparently trees play some role. Atlanta has had problems with the EPA over ozone often during the summer, and a large part of the reason is all of the trees here.

The time has come to “zero out” the budget for the EPA and see if the FedGov slime will work for free.

Can you imagine one of these pompous, self-serving jackasses standing in an unemployment line? What a sight to behold that would be: a demigod being forced to associate with “little people”.

Oh, the huge manatee!

Man, you paint a pretty, pretty picture. I like the way you think. The poor little darlings cast down from Olympus and being forced to stand about with the plebes.
