a) Why test a complete blackout of GPS over a populated area that encompasses 5 southern states? What plans does the Obama regime have that includes blanking out GPS in the South, or anywhere else?
b) Hu Jintao just had his big meeting with 0bama. Connections?
c) This notice was to aviators. People who own automotive and outdoor GPS's may never get word of the outage until it happens.
d) This is a huge inconvenience to land and water navigation. What is so urgent that this needs to be done now?
e) Why can't the test be done offshore somewhere?
It's creeping me out, FRiends. We may be closer to the balloon going up than we think.
Y'all calm me down, OK?
Not knowing what else to say, PING!
That test area is centered on an area the US Navy uses very regularly for operational testing. They may want to see how ships, aircraft and systems function when GPS is not available.
Thats why I always keep maps in my glove compartment.
The mothership is on final.
It would tick me off too if I was expecting to use my trail GPSs to get back to the car, although occasionally neither one will acquire a lock for no obvious reason.
It's important to be prepared, that's for sure.
That must be very inconvenient for Georgians & South Carolinians. I am all for troop preparedness, but GPS has become an important civil navigation tool. They can simulate radar outage; why not simulate GPS outage?
LOL! I'll try not to pull the tinfoil hat down TOO tight!
Seriously, don't you wonder about the timing? With this regime, I wonder if ANYTHING is accidental.
Don’t worry. Wherever you go, there you are.
What does your reference to the balloon going up mean?
Thanks!
In general, "the balloon going up" refers to the start of a war or battle. In this case, I'm referring to my belief that under certain circumstances, the 0bama regime and Soros or whoever controls him could decide that a "false flag operation" leading to civil unrest and perhaps martial law could suit their purposes, to wit: maintaining control and power over the US population.
“Why test a complete blackout of GPS over a populated area that encompasses 5 southern states?”
For what it’s worth, this site: http://www.aviationbanter.com/showthread.php?p=760241 says they already started testing on the west coast.
I don’t now, but it all may have something to do with the old GPS satellites coming to the end of their operational life, launching a couple of new satellites, developing work arounds, and so forth.
That might make sense: disabling GPS over an area corresponding to a vulnerable regime of flight for the booster rocket and satellite, to prevent GPS-guided missiles from taking out a key spy satellite asset on its way up.
Is there any way to verify the launch trajectory? I think they would want to go east to take advantage of the Earth's added rotational velocity, so flying over the SE US is not out of the realm of possibility.
You may be onto something.
Their Local Notice to Mariners link states:
GPS SIGNAL TESTING
DUE TO TESTING ON GPS FREQUENCIES USED IN SHIPBOARD NAVIGATION AND HANDHELD SYSTEMS. GPS SYSTEMS THAT RELY ON GPS, SUCH AS E-911, AIS AND DSC, MAY BE AFFECTED WITHIN A 150 NM RADIUS OF POSITION 30 49.09N 80 28.18W. DURING THIS PERIOD GPS USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REPORT ANY GPS SERVICE OUTAGES THAT THEY MAY EXPERIENCE DURING THIS TESTING VIA THE NAVIGATION INFORMATION SERVICE (NIS) BY CALLING (703) 313-5900 OR BY USING THE NAVCEN WEB SITE'S GPS REPORT A PROBLEM WORKSHEET AT WWW.NAVCEN.USCG.GOV.
They don't launch eastward out of Vandenberg.
Are they disabling only the civil GPS or civil+encrypted military?
The NOTAM indicates that aviation GPS will be out, which uses the civil signal. My guess is that they are jamming both signals.
Okay, that takes away the connection to the NRO bird. Next?
