The Philadelphia Horror: How Mass Murder Gets a Pass
Townhall.com ^ | January 21, 2011 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 01/21/2011 5:03:23 AM PST by Kaslin

Let's give the "climate of hate" rhetoric a rest for a moment. It's time to talk about the climate of death, in which the abortion industry thrives unchecked. Dehumanizing rhetoric, rationalizing language and a callous disregard for life have numbed America to its monstrous consequences. Consider the Philadelphia Horror.

In the City of Brotherly Love, hundreds of babies were murdered by a scissors-wielding monster over four decades. Whistleblowers informed public officials at all levels of the wanton killings of innocent life. But a parade of government health bureaucrats and advocates protecting the abortion racket looked the other way -- until, that is, a Philadelphia grand jury finally exposed the infanticide factory run by abortionist Kermit B. Gosnell, M.D., and a crew of unlicensed, untrained butchers masquerading as noble providers of women's "choice." Prosecutors charged Gosnell and his death squad with multiple counts of murder, infanticide, conspiracy, abuse of corpse, theft and other offenses.

The 281-page grand jury report released Wednesday provides a bone-chilling account of how Gosnell's "Women's Medical Society" systematically preyed on poor, minority pregnant women and their live, viable babies. The report's introduction lays out the criminal enterprise that claimed the lives of untold numbers of babies -- and mothers:

"This case is about a doctor who killed babies and endangered women. What we mean is that he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable babies in the third trimester of pregnancy -- and then murdered these newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors. The medical practice by which he carried out this business was a filthy fraud in which he overdosed his patients with dangerous drugs, spread venereal disease among them with infected instruments, perforated their wombs and bowels -- and, on at least two occasions, caused their deaths. Over the years, many people came to know that something was going on here. But no one put a stop to it."

Echoing the same kind of dark euphemisms plied by Planned Parenthood propagandists who refer to unborn life as "fetal and uterine material," Gosnell referred to his deadly trade as "ensuring fetal demise." Reminiscent of the word wizards who refer to the skull-crushing partial-birth abortion procedure as "intact dilation and evacuation" and "intrauterine cranial decompression," Gosnell described his destruction of babies' spinal cords as "snipping." He rationalized his macabre habit of cutting off dead babies' feet and saving them in rows and rows of specimen jars as "research." His guilt-ridden employees then took photos of some of the victims before dumping them in shoeboxes, paper bags, one-gallon spring-water bottles and glass jars.

They weren't the only ones who adopted a see-no-evil stance:

-- The Pennsylvania Department of Health knew of clinic violations dating back decades, but did nothing.

-- The Pennsylvania Department of State was "repeatedly confronted with evidence about Gosnell" -- including the clinic's unclean, unsterile conditions, unlicensed workers, unsupervised sedation, underage abortion patients and over-prescribing of pain pills with high resale value on the street -- "and repeatedly chose to do nothing."

-- Philadelphia Department of Public Health officials who regularly visited Gosnell's human waste-clogged offices did nothing.

-- Nearby hospital officials who treated some of the pregnant mothers who suffered grave complications from Gosnell's butchery did nothing.

-- An unnamed evaluator with the National Abortion Federation, the leading association of abortion providers that is supposed to uphold strict health and legal standards, determined that Gosnell's chamber of horrors was "the worst abortion clinic she had ever inspected" -- but did nothing.

Meanwhile, the death racketeers have launched a legislative and regulatory assault across the country on pro-life crisis pregnancy centers from New York City to Baltimore, Austin and Seattle that offer abortion alternatives, counseling and family services to mostly poor, vulnerable minority women.

Already, left-wing journalists and activists have rushed to explain that these abortion atrocities ignored for four decades by abortion radicals and rationalizers are not really about abortion. A Time magazine writer argued that the Philadelphia Horror was "about poverty, not Roe v. Wade." A University of Minnesota professor declared: "This is not about abortion."

But the grand jury itself pointed out that loosened oversight of abortion clinics enacted under pro-choice former GOP Gov. Tom Ridge enabled Gosnell's criminal enterprise -- and led to the heartless execution of hundreds of babies. Mass murder got a pass in the name of expanding "access" and appeasing abortion lobbyists.

As the report made clear: "With the change of administration from (pro-life Democratic) Gov. Casey to Gov. Ridge," government health officials "concluded that inspections would be 'putting a barrier up to women' seeking abortions. Better to leave clinics to do as they pleased, even though, as Gosnell proved, that meant both women and babies would pay."

Deadly indifference to protecting life isn't tangential to the abortion industry's existence -- it's at the core of it. The Philadelphia Horror is no anomaly. It's the logical, bloodcurdling consequence of an evil, eugenics-rooted enterprise wrapped in feminist clothing.

This just stabs me in the heart.

“Not about abortion”? “About poverty?” Talk about trying to shift perception, typical disingenuous liberal response.

And I wonder how well those PA State Health regulators have been sleeping at night lately. The article blames Tom Ridge and perhaps that’s valid. But hairs are being split about these poor murdered infants and any other infant murdered in the state-sanctioned practice of abortion in this country.

The media is silent as lambs on it too.

A classic example of getting exactly what you asked for, and then complaining about it. Every effort will be made to not let this thing go to a public trial. I really hope it does. That will do real damage to the abortion industry and it's cultists.

It will not happen though. Plea deal for sure.

“Liberals adore the abortion of minority babies.”

They’re also called “Progressives” and in the early part of this century favored “eugenics”: the “science” of killing off undesirables, or preventing their births. Negoes were on the undesirable list.

Rinos are nothing more than liberals who are compelled to prove their street cred to the "real" liberals in the Dem Party. Which is what almost all of the Pubbie candidates are.

This is nothing more than ancient Caananite/Mid-Eastern sacrifice of infants. This demon saved their feet in jars as trophies.

Justice would be his conviction and execution by a jury of his peers. Instead he will be feted and applauded.

I used to receive my university's monthly alumni magazine until they profiled an older graduate who was a doctor. On the cover was a picture of an avuncular old gent in scrubs who reminded me of Dave Thomas the founder of Wendy's but without a smile.

I recall only a few lines from the article. The doctor was quoted as saying "I first started performing abortions for the money as I was just starting out and I needed it . . . ." I cannot recall the rest of the article.

What amazed me was that no where in the process from interview to print did anyone say "Wait! This may not be such a good idea." I immediately informed the alumnni office I no longer wished to receive their magazine.

I suspect that Romney was more of a pro-Choice Republican than Ridge. I also suspect that this kind of thing is going on in Massachusetts as we speak. Abortion is nothing less than Child Sacrifice. It is done in order to make the parent's lives more comfortable. They sacrifice their children in order that the demon gods will bless them with economic prosperity.

In this case, (and I suspect in many clinics in Liberal states where abortion is treated more as a Religious Sacrament than a medical procedure) the doctor waited until the baby was born before snuffing out its life.

Abortion is EVIL. Anyone who says otherwise is EVIL.

“The media is silent as lambs on it too.”

Silence because they (media) are no lambs, but they deadly preyers on the innocent. They cover up the truth, they call truth a lie and vice versa. They dwell on the bad and take a pass on the good. If everybody turned off every TV station at news times, we’d all be a lot better off. The media tell us what they want us to hear and in the manner they want to sell it for the best effects for their purposes! Why ANYBODY with a lick of common sense would listen to the news on a national station, I just cannot figure out. It is so slanted as to barely have any semblance of truth.

I’ve read about this clinic. It’s been written about in the past. Why public officials have looked the other way is unconscienable. I’d hate to be them on the day of judgement!

Abortion is EVIL. Anyone who says otherwise is EVIL.

I would bet that the child-sacrificing caananites, praying to the fertility of crops and people gods, were wanting better crops and yields. In other words, ridding themselves of little Abdul might have seemed sacrificial, but they were really just ridding themselves of one more mouth to feed. As you say, "in order to make the parents' lives more comfortable."

Abortion is evil. This particular man clearly deserves to be executed by a jury of his peers. In early America he would have been for these offenses.

From lifenews.com:

“Not because of administrative ennui, although there had been plenty. Instead, the Pennsylvania Department of Health abruptly decided, for political reasons, to stop inspecting abortion clinics at all. The politics in question were not anti-abortion, but pro,” the grand jury report said.

When the Governor’s office changed hands from pro-life Bob Casey Sr. to “pro-choice” Tom Ridge, according to the grand jury, health officials suddenly concluded that inspections would be “putting a barrier up to women” seeking abortions.

“Better to leave clinics to do as they pleased, even though, as Gosnell proved, that meant both women and babies would pay,” the grand jury said.

Up until a few days ago, Pennsylvania had another pro-abortion Governor at the helm, Ed Rendell, who apparently continued the practice of laissez-faire regulation. But now, the winds of change are blowing through the Harrisburg Capitol, and there’s a new sheriff in town, Governor Tom Corbett.

The dirty secrets of the abortion industry and their enablers in the health department, universities, medical schools and of course, congress and state legislatures, must come out - and now if we are to stop this abomination. Tom Ridge was our Homeland Security Director. For Ridge, the most unsafe place was and is in the womb. Shame on him! And shame on the people in Philly who covered up.

You’ll just want to puke over this, but it needs to be seen to expose the legacy of what legalizing abortion left.

The arguments used to get abortion made legal are all demolished in this one facility.

Making abortion legal did nothing to protect women. All it did was protect butchers with medical degrees.

“it’s about poverty” is a way to get off all that ugliness of the truth.
It’s a very clean - vague- statement that allows them to hijack the conversation and reappoint themselves as the more “compassionate”
If you aren’t properly nuanced - then you just don’t “get it”.

Of course - whenever I hear the “it’s about poverty” my mind goes down that road....ok - so - when poor women get pregnant, they go to this place for help. They get “information” about their uterine contents and how they can get it all to go away. FOR FREE!
They aren’t shown any charts on fetal development. They are ADAMANT about not showing these poor women ultrasound images.
No - if ultrasound is in the office, it is to assist the abortionist during dismemberment of the child.

Isn’t government grand?
One reason these women are poor is because the government check has replaced men - replaced husbands and fathers.

I read all 200+ pages of the Grand Jury report and was sick, sick sick. It took me two days to finish and I skipped over much of it. They forgot the graphic warning at the page where I saw it linked. There are pictures in the report and those poor little ones brought me to tears. I would read a little, start to cry and quit reading to pray and do something else for a while.
