South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is facing her first big lawsuit after saying the state would try to keep unions out of the Boeing Inc. plant in North Charleston.
The lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Charleston by the International Association of Machinists and AFL-CIO asked for a court order telling Haley and her director of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation to butt out and remain neutral in matters concerning union activities.
"There's no secret I don't like the unions," Haley said when asked about the litigation. "We are a right-to-work state. I will do everything I can to defend the fact we are a right-to-work state. We are pro-business by nature. I want us to continue to be pro-business. If they don't like what I said, I'm sorry, that's how I feel."

so the union thinks that we the people must remain silent but they can agitate as much as they want to?
What part of “right to work” does the AFL-CIO not understand?
Boeing is a traitor to the State of Washington and should be demonized for taking advantage of cheap labor in South Carolina.
She may not like unions but can she legally prevent them?
She can try!!!
This may not have been about Boeing but the desire of the Govenor and the Business Communities desires to continue to attrack business and not become Flint Michigan or other Union strongholds, name your state and city or town around the nation, oh they are so many....
>>”But you don’t have no mandate from nobody that we’re not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?” Ford asked.
Wow, a quintuple negative. The senator’s grasp of English grammar is breath-taking.
I the 1st amendment dead?
From the aryicle, the well spoken state senator,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
” state Sen. Robert Ford asked her if she had orders to crack down on labor unions. The Democrat represents the Charleston district where the Boeing plant is being built.
“But you don’t have no mandate from nobody that we’re not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?” Ford asked.’
>>>Boeing is a traitor to the State of Washington and should be demonized for taking advantage of cheap labor in South Carolina.<<<
So a corporation must always seek and remain in the most expensive labor markets so make lower profits (or go bankrupt) to avoid being a “traitor”?
If the highly paid Boeing workers in Washington State are worth their wages, another corporation or corporations, recognizing what a great bargain they are, will undoubtedly swoop in to hire them.
Do you always look for the highest prices when buy the things you want/need? If not, why do you believe Boeing should?
I was in the union that covered grocery and meatpackers, forgot the name. I was never real impressed, it took a long time to fire very bad workers and one of the worst was a union steward who was untouchable.
The tactics of these groups are by any means necessary. Destroy private property, break legs, and even twist the law with the help of sympothetic judges and lawyers.
“I was in the union that covered grocery and meatpackers, forgot the name.”
Remain neutral? They have no problems using their own buddies in government to try to force-unionize companies. Turnaround is fair play.
Yeah, sure Mr Union Thug.
Unions are now an interconnected part of the DNC Leadership and have more control over everyday American’s lives than EVER and what room do they have to make such demands?
IMO their power today is incredible, and HUGELY increased thru Chairman Obamao’s support, and must be reduced.
Hat’s off to the Gov, keep on fighting so that these devices of Socialism don’t destroy Boeing the way they destroyed Chrysler and GM.
>>But you dont have no mandate from nobody that were not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?
But you AIN’T GOT no mandate from nobody that were not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?
I tell youse, good grammar’s tougher to find than Jimmy Hoffa!/s;)
Well, considering their buddy Barry basically awarded GM to them and the NLRB and the US Dept. of Labor is packed with union sycophants pursuing the union agenda, why would it be a problem for the governor of SC to push back?
Go to hell you union pimp!!
Original: But you dont have no mandate from nobody that were not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?
Step 1: But you have a mandate from nobody that were not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?
Step 2: But you have no mandate that were not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?
Step 3: But you have no mandate that were going to let a labor union exist at Boeing?
I wonder if that's what he meant to say.
The Attorney’s General are legal counsel for the Govs. She can direct her Atty Gen to keep the lines straight! That is usually sufficient to defeat the beat!
>>The tactics of these groups are by any means necessary. Destroy private property, break legs, and even twist the law with the help of sympothetic judges and lawyers.
I remember when Senator Packwood fought to close a federal loophole that allowed unions to legally commit arson, rape and murder as part of “labor negotiations”. The unions fought tooth and nail to keep that ability, and after they lost they railroaded Packwood out of D.C. I learned everything I need to know about unions from that incident.
The unions want “a court order telling Haley and her director of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation to butt out and remain neutral in matters concerning union activities.” How does that work? Why don’t they just go for a court order declaring their favorite lackey Governor of SC?
What other civil rights don't you respect? I know you don't respect those who honor and sustain the law and Constitution , but the Governor has sworn to do so.
NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT
29 U.S.C. §§ 151-169
[Title 29, Chapter 7, Subchapter II, United States Code]
See you in hell punk bitch company goon!
Way back when it was the Amalgamated Meatcutters
There are plenty of great sites for Liberal, Socialist Union Slavemasters who think they have the right to extort whatever they want from corporations and taxpayers. Just a few recommendations.
FR, on the other hand, is for CONSERVATIVES.
What surprises me is that the other guy was able to reply so quickly. I’d be asking “What did you say? Can you put that in English?”
While the new House members are concentrating on ‘saving’ money, they could defund this albatross.
The unions in Seattle have made it impossible for Boeing to compete with government subsidized Airbus, so they moved to SC. If the unions get their way in SC look for Boeing to leave the US.
You said: they could defund this albatross.
I would keep funding, if they actually went after the unfair practices of unions. I remember the SEIU going after an employer a while back in a very bad way. Far from preventing or stopping the SEIU abuses, the NLRB was itself an instrument of the SEIU's abuse.
It's been 28 years since Reagan faced down the ATC union. It's about time another Republican took up the fight.
(The quote is for real.)
State Sen. Robert Ford asked her (Governor Haley) if she had orders to crack down on labor unions. The Democrat represents the Charleston district where the Boeing plant is being built:
But you dont have no mandate from nobody that were not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing? Ford asked.
Robert Ford is a Black Democrat. As such he’s entitled to use “Ebonics.”
In a Right to Work state, the law sustains the right of an individual to be employed whether or not he chooses to join a union, or to pay an agency fee to a union.
In other words, a union cannot make union membership, or a payment of a fee a condition of employment.
Unions cannot force a company to fire a worker because he refuses to join the union, or to pay a fee for representation in collective bargaining.
It does not preclude workers from forming a union, or belonging to an existing one.
I refer you to the Taft-Hartley Act.
If this is the case in South Carolina, please explain how Gov. Haley is violating her Oath of Office to support the US Constitution and the laws of her state.
That sentence should be grounds for impeachment!
So that is what your problem is, you are a Union stooge. Now I understand your rudeness as well as non-sensible postings.
The “state” of the State of Washington is one of overtaxation, over-regulation and corruption and rottenness to the core, thanks largely to King County, and the union left and its supporters are to blame.
Good for Boeing for getting the hell out of hell and good for Governor Haley for standing up to the unions like a man.
Especially since the Republican Party seems in damned short supply of the male variety these days....
The stupid, it burns. In your haste to attack me personally, you managed to ignore more than a decade of my participation on this website.
I don’t know whom or what you are talking about.
My hunch is that English is not your first language.
The point here is that I am pro-open shop, pro-freedom, pro-industry and anti-union—and you are not.
You and Pat Buchanan may have some opinions in common. I don’t think that speaks very well of either of you.
Five negatives in one sentence. No bad, Dear Senator.
But during her confirmation hearing, state Sen. Robert Ford asked her if she had orders to crack down on labor unions. The Democrat represents the Charleston district where the Boeing plant is being built.
“But you don’t have no mandate from nobody that we’re not going to let no labor union exist at Boeing?” Ford asked.
I’ll just be kind to you here, and remind you that hunches are not always correct. If you stop by more econ threads, you’’ll figure me out quickly enough.
Save your kindness and the rest of your crap.
You were “figured out” some time ago by everybody but you.
Just one more thing: what makes you think English is my second language? There are some internationally-regarded English professors who might find your opinion amusing.
I’ll admit that sometimes I’ll neglect to add a sarcasm tag, but the contention that I was ’figured out’ some time ago by everybody” indicates something else, like a grudge, maybe.
Sarcasm? You are a sad and vindictive little prick full of hate. No one could fail to figure you out if they paid any attention to your history of flinging poo on FR. Cosmic justice is when Obama’s little prick Immelt sends all those union job to China, Vietnam, Mexico, Nook, or any other hellholes that you leftist seem to so admire.
