Women: Pa. abortions left us sterile, near death
AP/Yahoo ^ | 1/23/11 | Mary Claire Dale

When Davida Johnson walked into Dr. Kermit Gosnell's clinic to get an abortion in 2001, she saw what she described as dazed women sitting in dirty, bloodstained recliners. As the abortion got under way, she had a change of heart — but claims she was forced by the doctor to continue.

"I said, 'I don't want to do this,' and he smacked me. They tied my hands and arms down and gave me more medication," Johnson told The Associated Press.

Johnson, then 21, had a 3-year-old daughter when she became pregnant again. She said she first went to Planned Parenthood in downtown Philadelphia but was frightened away by protesters.

"The picketers out there, they just scared me half to death," Johnson, now 30, recalled this week.

Someone sent her to Gosnell's West Philadelphia clinic, at the Women's Medical Society, saying anti-abortion protesters wouldn't be a problem there. She said she paid him $400 cash.

A few months after the abortion, she began to have gynecological problems. An examination revealed venereal disease. She blames Gosnell, 69, for the lifelong illness, which she declined to identify, and for the four miscarriages she has subsequently suffered.

Johnson learned last week that Philadelphia prosecutors believe Gosnell frequently delivered late-term babies alive at his clinic, then severed their spines with scissors, and often stored the fetal bodies — along with staff lunches — in refrigerators at the squalid facility. Tiny baby feet, prosecutors said, were discovered in specimen jars, lined up in a macabre collection.

Just goes to show that more protesters are needed. Sounds like had they had enough to cover this abortuary as well, it might have scared the woman away from the murder of her child.

I thought that keeping abortion legal would mean that all the procedures would be safe and clean and pretty with sunshine and unicorns and all that?

At least, that’s what the feminists tell me!

Propaganda to disallow protesting at Planned Parenthood? Nah, AP wouldn’t print something like that!

Note the spin. Because pro-life protesters scared her away from Planned Parenthood, obviously, her ordeal under Dr. Gosnell’s hands is OUR fault, not his, not hers. This is the new liberal meme that is spreading rapidly in the wake of these sick revelations. To them. Gosnell is not a reason to ban abortion, it’s a reason to remove ALL restrictions because “if you restrict abortion further, you will create hundreds more Gosnells.” It’s maddening, evil being called good.

Someone is free to correct me, but I have not seen this covered on any network, cable or otherwise, until tonight.

CNN covered it, and included an interview with an abortion survivor:

This guy was a butcher.

He has no soul.

How could any woman enter such a place and still go through with killing their babies.

Some Health Department employees need to start looking for new jobs, as they let this monster slide for so many years.
They spent more time inspecting restaurants than they did inspecting this so-called clinic.Any random check should have told them what was going on obviously they never checked.

Does any health department anywhere, ever check any Doctor’s office or clinic to see that proper cleanliness and sterile practices are carried out like they check food facilities?

“How does that make you feel?”

TV “journalists” really need to come up with a different question.

Ah, the evil protesters. Now it all makes sense...

Hey AP. If your propaganda leads more women and babies to their deaths, you are partially responsible.

It was so important for her to not have any more children, yet after her abortion, she claimed the “doctor” was responsible for her four miscarriages. Doesn’t she realize there are ways to prevent pregnancy? And she blames him for her VD. Isn’t it more likely that one of her boyfriends gave it to her?

I’m not defending the “doctor”. He needs to be convicted and put to death. But come on, lady, take a good look at yourself. See a problem?

"The picketers out there, they just scared me half to death," Johnson, now 30, recalled this week.

But, stalwart and determined, she proceeded to pay an abortionist to kill her own little baby in the face of these naysayers.

She showed those anti-abortion crazies in the street that she can do what she wants with her body!

Personally, it wouldn't bother me if her guts had rotted out.

I actually have heard mentions of it several times over the last few days (since the news broke) on the top-of-the-hour/half-hour newsbreaks on my local radio station, from ABC News. Hasn't been at every break, but have heard it on multiple days. Astonishes me every time.

“which she declined to identify, and for the four miscarriages she has subsequently suffered.” Which means she was merrily passing on her VD.

If it is true that she said she didn’t want to do it and then he hit her and tied her down and forced medication into her... well, I cannot say words to express how this should be handled, I’d probably get banned.

God bless those protesters who take the time and with compassion and an open heart try to help those about to make a horrible mistake.

This is common post-abortion trauma that re-writes the events to seem the mother did not participate willingly.

You will see hundreds of women come out with similar stories against this clinic, many will not be true, just a mental survival technique to deny the reality of their actions.

There needs to be serious prosecutions of gov't officials in this case.

I’d suspect the reason Gosnell’s abortuary wasn’t picketed is because of the neighborHOOD where it is located. If you know what I mean.

I’d say there needs to be serious prosecution.

My ex’s friend got pregnant and decided to go for an abortion. When I found out she was planning this, I couldn’t believe it, she already had some kids. I begged her not to, the reason... the timing wasn’t right.

Now she fully regrets ever doing that, and has had another one after to try to fill the void I imagine, but nothing ever will. I get pretty heated when discussing abortion with pro-abortion people, because of their callous “it’s a woman’s choice” argument.

This is what *ahem* "safe, legal, and rare" looks like.
This is what the Left defends, and places above all other political issues.
This is what makes the Democrats consider themselves "the good guys".
