In 1995, Christie Whitman, a New Jersey governor who was a rising Republican Party star, delivered the GOPs response to President Bill Clintons State of the Union address in front of a cheering crowd in the Assembly chamber.
Once again, New Jersey has a rising Republican star in the Statehouse, and a Democratic president about to give a State of the Union address. But history wont repeat itself this year even though Republicans were interested in making that happen.

Isn’t he pro-amnesty?
Anyway, if its Rand Paul he can kick Obamanomics through the wall.
If it’s anything like the past the Republican answer won’t be worth listening to.

I love Paul Ryan.
Plus he's better when he engages one on one in a debate or interview than in a speech. He's about the best GOPer at that than I've seen in a long time.
You got that right. I heard his exchange with Scarborough and Halperin about the snow response. Christie absolutely destroyed them.

Anyone remember who did it last year? Two years ago?
Two years ago it was Bobby Jindal and his delivery was considered very poor so that was a disappointment. Last year I remember well that Gov Bob McDonnell did it and I thought he was excellent. Got pretty good reviews.
Am wondering if they will now suggest this for 'school sports' and higher. By their logic, we should no longer have 'visitor and hometeam' sides.
Whatever; more than pathetic (feeling outrage here, actually) that the first step our Repubs take after historic win, was to succumb to neutralizing Dem strategy tactic and PC visual.
WHERE is Marco Rubio?
