The recurring theme, evident over the past few years in particular, is that it is NOT the lack of laws and regulations that is the problem, it is the expectation that the government bureaucrats can enforce anything in a coherent manner.

Well, and the complete and utter disregard on the part of the feds for the Constitutional scheme for what issues and powers go to which branches and levels of government. Even if something IS a good idea, that doesn't mean "good idea" supersedes the Constitution about which part of government, if any, may deal with the issue.

(Disclaimer: NOT implying this one is a good idea.)
