John C. Stone might be the most famous Green Bay Packers fan in Chicago.
The 34-year-old Roseland resident was fired Monday from his job as a car salesman at an Oak Lawn Chevrolet dealership for wearing a Packers tie to work, but hes already been offered a job at another dealership and been interviewed live on a nationwide sports radio show.

He should have asked for overtime. That usually takes care of ties.

You can easily see the manager’s point. He’s on the clock...And that’s the way it is. AND he was warned.

Would the Chicago mob and the New York mob feel better if the Jets and Bears played for third place? Maybe they could call it the Not so Super Bowl.

I have a feeling a lot of Bears fans are going to visit this dealership if they want a car. But the dealership may need all the extra money to pay this guy if he wins a wrongful termination suit.

I don’t get how anyone can be fired for a sports tie. Still, I think ANYONE that wears sports team birc-a-brac is a moron, but I can;t see firing anyone for it.

The majority of people realize that we each like our own team and enjoy wearing their colors. And the majority of people do so in jest, teasing one another and having fun on the way. People are tolerant - this dealership wasn’t. Time to shop elsewhere for cars.

A Jets/Bears Superbowl would involve markets theoretically covering 30 million people, whereas Green Bay/Pittsburgh involves 3 million.

Plus it went against the company’s marketing plan where they used Bears’ players in advertising. You could make conflict of interest as a basis for what seems to me to be a solid reason for canning this insubordinate idiot.
Here in Da ‘Burgh a lot of local businesses run advertising campaigns with Steelers’ players, and I pity any damnfool employee who’d show up for work in Ravens or Browns gear.

I’m all for the Packers, but how many cars is he going to sell in IL with that on? I’d fire him for being just incredibly stupid! :-)

The only Jet going to Dallas will be the one carrying the AFC Champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers

Locally, they probably won’t suffer from this. I imagine lots of Bears fans will flock to this car lot to buy a car from the place that stood up for the home team. Nationally, they will look foolish.

whereas Green Bay/Pittsburgh involves 3 million. But those two teams have the largest nationwide following, outside of the Cowboys.

Probably right - although the Raiders still seem to have a huge national following as well. Not to mention that the Giants have a bigger following in the New York area than the Jets.
