Ryan warns of ‘tipping point’-- Bachmann delivers her own Republican tea party response

Acknowledging the public has a right to be angry at both parties, Republican leaders responding to President Obama‘s State of the Union speech implored Americans to trust them to lead the country out of its economic malaise.

Rep. Paul D. Ryan, the Wisconsin Republican chosen to give the party’s official response, said both sides face a “tipping point” in addressing the problems of federal spending and ballooning national debt.

“Americans are skeptical of both political parties, and that skepticism is justified - especially when it comes to spending. So hold us accountable,” said Mr. Ryan in a televised GOP rebuttal shortly after Mr. Obama‘s State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday evening.

Mr. Ryan, the new chairman of the House Budget Committee seen as one of the GOP‘s rising stars, vowed to draft a federal budget that gives Americans “a better choice and a different vision” - one that features significant spending cuts and results in a reduced debt and more jobs.

“Our forthcoming budget is our obligation to you - to show you how we intend to do things differently,” said Mr. Ryan, speaking from the House Budget Committee‘s main hearing room.

Mr. Ryan noted that House Republicans already this year have passed legislation that he said would slash spending, including bills to cut Congress‘ own budget and a repeal of the Democrat’s 2010 health care law. But many if not most GOP spending cut proposals, however, likely will die in the Democrat-dominated Senate.

“No economy can sustain such high levels of debt and taxation,” he said. “The next generation will inherit a stagnant economy and a diminished country.”

Very different from Obama’s generalities and sermonizing.

I hope not...

Paul Ryan:
-Voted YES on TARP (2008)
-Voted YES on Economic Stimulus HR 5140 (2008)
-Voted YES on $15B bailout for GM and Chrysler. (Dec 2008)
-Voted YES on $192B additional anti-recession stimulus spending. (Jul 2009)

Seems to be a fiscal phony.

>>But many if not most GOP spending cut proposals, however, likely will die in the Democrat-dominated Senate.<<

IF that happens, with the modest cuts that are proposed ($265 billion/year for 10 years), it still leaves us with a $1 trillion+ budget.

The budget must be cut DEEP. Freezing at 2008 levels won’t do it. Killing DeathCare alone won’t do it. Freeze at 1952 level (inflation adjusted, maybe). Whole departments must go.

First to go must be The Department of Energy. It has INCREASED our dependence on foreign oil. Next, Department of Education, whose only “accomplishment” is to LOWER test grades. EPA usurping power from the states; TSA violating the Constitution and cutting out foreign aid and a host of programs, policy units, armchair generals and admirals, etc. etc.

IF the RATs in the Senate kill it, the PUBs need to be adamant during the reconciliation process. Dare 0bambi to veto it. No continuing resolution; no raising the debt limit. See who blinks first.

Wanna know why he voted yes on those like most of the rest of the lying shysters? Because they included perks for his district.

Nearly The whole bunch are lying whining little shysters. The only one who has at least a hint of sense is Rand Paul.

I thought that Mr. Ryan's response to the President's State of the Union speech was pretty good, but not as effective as Michelle Bachman's response.

Michelle hit a "home run" by showing us the abysmal failure of the Socialist policies of the Democrat Administration to control spending and create jobs. Democrat policies clearly are destructive to the economy and culture of the United States. Thanks to the failed Democrat leadership we are well on the slippery slope to socialism and totalitarianism. Can we get out and restore our culture, borders, and language? I do not know.

Michell Bachman knocked it out of the Park, she had Specifics, she actually USED the Facts and threw them in his face,Ryan talked about corporations SEEKING waivers where Bachman stated that UNIONS AND CORPORATIONS have recieved 222 waivers. This is what needs to be Done. She also talked about the 16 thousand IRS agents that will be after you and the Fees and Penalties,She was Fantastic.
I dont Know what the Hell is wrong or I should say I do,Most of these Republicans are Pathetic and afraid of their own Shadow. Michelle Bachman Takes the Facts and the evidence of the train wreck of Obama and spells it out,the other idiots talk in Generalities.

As much as I agree with the content of Bachmann's speech, it is wrong for her or any politician to become defacto Tea Party leader or any group to give the appearance they are the leading group of the Tea Party movement. Doing so makes it easier for the opposition to target and attack the Tea Party cause by targeting the individual person or group thereby weakening the movement The Tea Party movement was formed on the premise all grassroots members are the leaders, not any single politician as illustrated in the photo below.

Consider the possibility that Bachman was not coming from left field as a loner. She was delivering more of the message.

The Messiah was double teamed and when Momma Bear posts, triple teamed.

Remember also, politics is the art of the possible. Dieing in a light brigade charge accomplishes nothing.

Ouch.
Ouch.
Ouch.
Ouch.

I thought this guy was credible. That's what I had heard. Those votes make him an absolute non-starter.
