Does Obama grasp the gravity of the situation --- Maybe.
and does he have the geopolitical know-how to deal with it?

Mubarak is the Shah of Iran. Nice man? No. But he is a force for stability, and he is not focused on the destruction of Israel.
A couple of years ago I heard someone (maybe Bolton?) say that the US promotes democracy in the Middle East, but not in Egypt, because a democratic movement in Egypt would almost certainly put the Muslim Brotherhood into power.
I'm pretty sure that Obama will do the wrong thing and that this will be another "Jimmy Carter II" moment for his administration.

In keeping with his Jimmah Carter imitation, BHO will lose Egypt like Iran was lost in the ‘70s.

Our local conservative talk show host was talking to Jed Babbin about this yesterday.
He mentioned that there is no focus on what is about to happen over there.
He says war and a big one at that.
Very scary, but all anyone seems to care about is campaigns.

A couple of years ago I heard someone (maybe Bolton?) say that the US promotes democracy in the Middle East, but not in Egypt, because a democratic movement in Egypt would almost certainly put the Muslim Brotherhood into power. Democracy cannot work when the underclass is a voting majority.
Islamism would be popular wherever there is a large underclass. The Quran prescribes welfare for the poor, paid for by a tithe (zakat) on assets. The revenues from the zakat tithe goes to the poor, the clerics, and the jihadis.

I think the first thing the blowholes will say, is .....
It's GWB's fault.

Just as in Iran, the Mohammedan savages will take advantage of the power vacuum and turn these places into carbon copies of the Mohammedan terror that dominates Iran.
The new fundamentalist Mohammedan ruling class will declare all treaties with Israel as null and void.
Prophecy is being fulfilled right in front of our eyes.

Mubarak should have learned from what happened to the last two mildly autocratic rulers whose downfall happened during public protest while we had a weak President who didn’t like America. Those two were Somoza and the Shah.

"...a democratic movement in Egypt would almost certainly put the Muslim Brotherhood into power." And the Sphinx will meet the same fate as the Buddhas of Bamiyan which were dynamited by the Taliban in 2001.

Israel will be involved, I wasn’t sure who else he meant.
Muzzies from wherever?
If our media did their job we would all be informed about what is going on. Instead we have to seek the info ourselves.
I am sure Dear Leader will get right on it./sarc
